General Manager of Asante Kotoko Nana Gyembibi Coker has explained the reason why his outfit chose to play their home games at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Asante Kotoko on Friday confirmed they will be hosting their league games at the Capital following the closure of the Baba Yara Stadium due to renovation works.

Many have questioned the clubs decision to chose the Accra Sports Stadium instead of the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium, but Speaking on Ashh FM on the club’s decision, Coker explained their decision to play in Accra.

“It is true we have chosen the Accra sports stadium as our new venue for the rest of the season”

“We chose Accra over other places due to the fact that we believed we have a lot of supporters in the Greater Accra region and in terms of traveling we felt Accra is the most convenient place”

“We are not bothered by the fact that Hearts of Oak plays at that same venue, we believe we can survive there”, he emphasized.

Nana Coker added; “We have arranged and talks are in place to inform the FA so that all our home games will be played at night under the floodlight”
“This is purely management decision but there is a supporters leader who is also part of management and by so doing there wasn’t any need to involve supporters”.
