Kotoko And El Ahly Are Tops

Kumasi Asante Kotoko and El Ahly of Egypt have been ranked by the African Football Confederation as the continent'sjoint top clubs.

Two years ago, Kotoko were rated as the second best behind the Egyptian club. But when CAF compiled the current list of the top 100 clubs on the continent, Kotoko had improved and secured parity with El Ahly, with 34 points apiece.

Kotoko's archrivals, Accra Hearts of Oak are plaed 11th on the list while Obuasi Goldfields are 89th.

Cannon Yaounde are Third with Zamalek of Egypt fourth while current champions ASEC are fifth.

CAF awarded four points for winners of champions league, formerly club championships, Cup Winners Cup and three points for runners up, two fo semi-finalists.

The six qualifiers for the round three of the Champions League who failed to reach the finals received a point each.

El Ahly have won the championship cup twice, lifted the Cup Winners Cup four times. Kotoko won the championship twice in 1971 and 1983.
