An Accra High Court presided over His Lordship Justice Daniel Mensah has set October 11, 2018 for a ruling in a GHC 25,000,000 suit filed by Ace Journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas against the controversial lawmaker for Assin Central Constituency, Kennedy Agyapong.

The case at the last hearing had to be adjourned to today July 31, 2018 because lawyers for the defendant told the court they had not been served with the supplementary affidavit and they needed more time to address the averment in the said supplementary affidavit.

The trial judge, Justice Daniel Mensah subsequently granted their request.

On Tuesday, July 31, 2018 when the case was called according to MyNewsGh.com’s court correspondent, Lawyers for Mr Kennedy Agyapong argued as stated in their application for the suit to be dismissed for lack of merit.

Counsel for the plaintiff in reaction claimed their application is not only an “abuse of the court” but an “abuse of the judge and his person” as well on the basis their application is “shocking, unimaginable and alien” to our judicial system.

“To the extent that per their application they seek to determine where Anas lives by questioning his address is amazingly unheard of”, he noted.

Lawyer Kissi Adjabeng claimed Anas’ the address which serves as his residence and office, is a popular place and easily identifiable adding that his lawful Attorney Listowell Yesu Bukarson, is known, Ghanaian and resides in Ghana.

He further argued that the defendant and his lawyers should simply have gone to the General Legal Council and enquired from the lawyer’s roll call to see if there is a lawyer in Ghana called Anas Aremeyaw Anas.

“Who in this world does not know that there is an Anas Aremeyaw Anas who is and internationally acclaimed undercover investigative journalist”, he asked

The judge enquired from the two parties whether 11th October will be appropriate for a ruling on the application after the legal break which was agreed.

Mr Kennedy Agyapong and Anas’ representative Listowell Yesu Bukarson were have been present throughout the hearing, MyNewsGh.com observed.
