PNC Stalwart, Atik Mohammed says former President John Mahama's comment not to accept flawed election results reinforces the need for a new voters' register.

Celebrating NDC's 28th anniversary on Wednesday, June 10, 2020, the former President and flagbearer of the party, John Dramani Mahama warned the Electoral Commission (EC) ahead of this year’s general elections.

According to him, the NDC will not accept the 2020 election results should they suspect a ''flawed elections''.

“As leader of the NDC, I wish to serve notice that we shall do all our parts to ensure that our country remains peaceful and that the electoral process proceeds smoothly, but let nobody assume that we will accept the results of a flawed elections,” he cautioned.

But to Atik Mohammed, Mr. Mahama's statements go to tell that he agrees with the Electoral Commission to compile a new voters' register because the new register is aimed at preventing a flawed election, come December.

To him, former President Mahama ''cannot say that you don't want a flawed election and still resist a new register. The two are at variance''.

''There's no Ghanaian who wants a flawed election. In fact, the Electoral Commission also doesn't want a flawed election. But regarding what he said, his fear of a flawed election actually reinforces the need for a new register," he further said on Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo'.
