Shafiu Mumuni, captain and a striker of Ashanti Gold Sporting Club, has said he wants to be the top scorer in the upcoming Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) Confederations Cup Competition.
He said every player in Africa would love the confederation opportunity to showcase his talent to the world on such platforms.
He added that, as a striker and a leader, the survival of the team depends on him and he had the ultimate responsibility to ensure their progress.
AshantiGold would be opening their Confederation Cup campaign against Equatorial Guinea champions Akonangui FC on Saturday at the Estadio La Libertad in Equatorial Guinea.
Speaking in an interview with GNA Sports, the striker said, " I was part of the AshGold team that played in the 2015 CAF champions league, so I know how difficult it would be when playing away games. So, we are taking game after game and I believe we will go far".
The Miners would be going into the game with a new coach Ricardo Da Rocha but the skipper noted that working with a new coach was always difficult but the entire team has worked hard to adapt to the style.
“It is always difficult in the beginning when playing under a new coach, but we have worked hard over the weeks to adapt to his style and he is a good coach with good ambitions.
He had made the team solid in every department of the game and we are ready the big game on Saturday", he added.
Shafiu,24, who has endeared himself as the Miners' top scorer in the past five seasons, scored nine goals in the Tier One and Two of the just ended Normalisation Committee Special Competitions.
