Accra Hearts of Oak Oldies on Wednesday subjected their arch-rivals Asante Kotoko to a 4-2 defeat (on penalties) to win the Independence Cup in Accra.

The pulsating encounter saw the Porcupines oldies came back from two goals down to force the game into penalties.

Hearts of Oak took the lead through Wisdom Abbey early in the first half.

Charles Taylor who was at the receiving end of several threats from Hearts of Oak fans doubled the lead for the Phobias just before the end of the first half.

With two goals down in the first half, the Porcupines Warriors oldies came back stronger in the second half.

Eric Bekoe quickly reduced the deficit for Kotoko and brought in some hope in the game.

Anas Mohammed got the important equalizer for the Porcupines to force the game into penalties.

Both sides were reduced to 10 men as Wisdom Ablezo and Joe Sam were both red-carded in the game

Gabriel Opoku Ware and Frank Boateng missed their penalties as Hearts of Oak converted all their four penalties to win the game by (4-2).
