The Member of Parliament MP for Sagnarigu Constituency in the Northern Region, Alhaji A.B.A Fuseini, has disputed claims by the Minister of Health that the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo government has not abandoned health projects started by the erstwhile Mahama administration.

He insists that health project have been abandoned including the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) which was only utilized during the Coronavirus pandemic after public outcry.

He, however, challenged government to come out with a full list of health projects they have completed since they assumed office.

“What did they do to complete the project? This government is full of lies, he should name at least one project they have completed. They can’t boost of at least one health project under their administration. Look at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC); they started using it after an uproar by the NDC and public. They promised 350 schools during their campaign it’s over 3 years what have they done? Nothing. Now you want to promise us 94 hospitals within a year. The Akufo-Addo government is full of lies they shouldn’t be taken serious,” He said

Speaking in a televised address to the nation on April 26, 2020, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo announced plans to construct 88 new district hospitals and six new regional hospitals within a year.

The President said that this is a major investment his government has taken within the country’s healthcare infrastructure and it is by far the largest in the history of the country.

However, after his address, a section of Ghanaians and the opposition National Democratic Congress advised the ruling party to complete and use abandoned facilities instead of constructing new ones.

Commenting on this development, Alhaji A.B.A Fuseini said the president’s promise is “deadly as Coronavirus.”

He said these comments are lies as the ruling government have failed to fulfil their promises since they assumed office.

He therefore reiterated that this is another lip service by the government and should not be taken seriously.
