Ghanaians, foreigners rush to register for 2018 Millennium Marathon

With a few days to go for the Big Millennium Marathon on September 22, Ghanaians and other nationals have intensified their registration after the first official desk was opened at the Zen Gardens, opposite Elite Sports at Labone in Accra.

Last Saturday was another exciting day for the opening of registration points and three lucky winners also emerged at the seventh draw of the special raffle.

The draw took place for the second time at Elite Sports Shop who donated prizes of assorted sports products to the winners.

Wisdom Adika, a footballer who plays for Zenaps FC, Sefanya Ameya Adadevoh, a goldsmith and bombardier Ibrahim Abdul Mumin, a soldier from the Artillery Division of the Volta Barracks were the lucky winners.

All of them thanked the organisers, Millennium Marathon Sports Ltd for the free and transparent draw supervised by the National Lotteries Authority (NLA).

Mr. Wael H. Hakim Founder and CEO of Elite Sports who has put down a treadmill for the winner of the 2018 race said he has been a partner of the Millennium Marathon since it begun four years ago, and encouraged Ghanaians to cultivate living healthy lifestyles.

He added that the international event has made Ghana the focus of all marathon lovers around the world.



Alan Beales, one of the Millennium Marathon 2018 Ambassadors who was very excited with the crowd at the draw and the registration desk congratulated and the fans, guests, patrons and media who graced the event.

Ambassador Ashim Morton, Director of the Millennium Marathon Ltd announced that the registration has been extended to September 20, 2018, and people can register and pick their running vests and a gift from the sponsors at the Accra Sports Stadium, Frankies Hotel at Osu, Decathlon at the Nungua Junction Mall and Beautiful Beneath at East Legon or the office of the Millennium Marathon at Nima.

He said organizing such a big international sports event need to be funded and appealed to corporate Ghana to take up the title of headline sponsor.

Some of the sponsors on board are Twellium Industries, Japan Motors, Elite Sports, Unilever, MTN, Blue Skies, MenzGold, Allianz Insurance, Papaye, Accra Mall, Wigal, Can-West, Royal Habits, Whirlpool, Emirates and Indomie.

The event is being supported by the AMA, Ministry of Youth &Sports and the Ministries of Health and Tourism. Meanwhile, the organisers of the marathon have met with the high command of the Ghana Police Motor Traffic Unit to plan and prepare for adequate security and accident-free event
