GTV’s Sports Highlights can better serve football fans

For many years our Monday evenings were not complete without watching sports highlights on GTV.

It is the sporting show where veteran commentator Kwabena Yeboah and his team show clips from the world’s leagues regarding spectacular goals scored by players and equally brilliant saves made by goal keepers.

But as with everything under the sun, the emergence of other television stations have led to GTV’s monopoly being broken as the likes of TV3, Metro, TV Africa, Viasat and GH One, all showing various highlights one way or the other.

In response, it appears Kwabena Yeboah and his team have resorted to showing funny football moments of the English to create variety but I reckon the team can better serve its viewers.

Now is the time for the sports highlights team to research and provide Ghanaians with a compilation of Black Stars top 100 goals or conduct a poll for who is Ghana’s greatest player in the last century or better still show us the exploits of the nation’s greats such as Abedi Pele, Tony Yeboah, Shamo Quaye, Azumah Nelson, Joe Carr, Edward Affum, Polo, Aggrey, Osei Kofi, George Alhassan, Vida Anim among others.

After all GTV, the Nation’s station must have all the clips in its archives. I trust Kwabena and the other stakeholders can take my counsel to beat the completion.
