The Planning Committee for the 18th Ghana International Book Fair held a regular meeting on Tuesday 17th March 2020.

The Committee considered the current circumstances regarding the pandemic Corona virus and its devastating effects on the economic climate globally, and the need for businesses and organisations to re-assess their business operations for the rest of the year.

The committee after considering the Government of Ghana’s initiatives announced to stop the spread of the virus and also the global urgency to find a vaccine for the Corona virus which we believe will be developed in record time, has decided to maintain the date for this year’s Ghana International Book Fair (27-30 August 2020). The committee shall however continue to assess the situation and make announcements on the holding of the book fair from time to time.

We encourage the government of Ghana and all the global institutions that are leading efforts to stem the pandemic to continue their vigorous programmes to save lives and ensure that the basic economic conditions are not eroded.

We encourage everyone to follow the laid down protocols announced by the government to ensure that we all stay healthy and free from contamination.

Thank you.

Yours sincerely,

Asare Konadu Yamoah

Chairman
