GHALCA boss Kudjoe Fianoo backs Dr Kwame Kyei to succeed at Asante Kotoko

Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) chairman, Kudjoe Fianoo, has backed Dr Kwame Kyei to succeed in his second tenure as the Executive Chairman of the club.

Speculations were rife that Dr Kyei was headed out of the club after the owner of the club Otumfuo Osei Tutu II set up a three-member committee headed by Professor Lydia Nkansah to investigate the affairs of the club.

However, in a restructured board announced last week, Dr Kwame Kyei heads the newly constituted Executive Board and would continue to be the man running affairs of the club.

According to Kudjoe Fianoo, it is of no surprise since Dr Kyei has been the sole financier of the club since he took charge.

“I am not surprised Dr Kwame Kyei is retained as Kotoko chairman. We all know the works he has done, single-handedly financing the club is a big feat. I believe Otumfuo appreciated the work he has done that is why he honoured him”, he told Light FM.

Despite the acknowledgement, the GHALCA boss also advised him to take clues from his failures during his first tenure.

“He (Dr Kyei) should learn his lessons this time and with the rich personalities on the board, they will take Kotoko to the promised land”.

He also called on the supporters to come on board and support the Executive Board

“The supporters should canvass their total support for the newly constituted board of the club. It is a big task that has been given to them in respect to the expectations of Otumfuo from the released letter”.

Dr Kwame Kyei in his first tenure in office saw Asante Kotoko win the MTN FA Cup beating arch-rivals Hearts of Oak in the finals, win the President Cup, Normalisation Committee Tier I Special Competition and also reached the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup in 2018.
