Al Jazira forward Ernest Asante has earned his debut senior national team call up with the Black Stars after he was named in coach Kwesi Appiah's squad for the AFCON qualifier against Kenya next week.

The attacker, who burst unto the scene after playing for the Black Starlets in 2005 has been knocking on the doors of the national team for sometime now but finally receives a call up at age 30.

Having played in Denmark, where he made a name for himself at FC Nordsjaelland, the striker made a big money move to UAE where he has been the main man for Al Jazira.

Asante has scored five times in fifteen appearance for the Gulf club.

The 30 year old previously played for Beveren, IK Start and Sabeak before moving to Denmark to join FC Nordsjaelland.

Asante comes in for Asamoah Gyan and Raphael Dwamena who were excluded from Appiah's team.

The Black Stars are seeking revenge over the Harambee Stars after they defeated the side 1-0 in the first match of the group qualifiers in Nairobi last year.

The Ghana players will be seeking to silence Kenya and finish top of the group of the qualifiers ahead of the tournament to be played in Egypt in June.
