Emmanuel Boateng scores fourth goal in Portugal

Former Ghana U20 star Emmanuel Okyere Boateng scored his fourth goal of the season in the Portuguese league on Saturday.

The frontman gave Moreirense a lifeline after falling behind but they ended up losing 2-1 to Chaves in the Primeira Liga.

Boateng, who played for Ghana at the 2015 Fifa U20 World Cup in New Zealand, has scored three times in the league and once in the Portuguese Cup.

Moreirense went into the game on the back of successive victories against Feirense and Nacional but Brazilian striker Willian left their defense at awe with an overhead kick goal on 16 minutes.

But the visitors responded well as Boateng took a pass from Daniel Podence before turning around and shooting past the goalkeeper on 33 minutes.

The hosts returned to the second half with greater determination which paid off on the stroke of 90 minutes when substitute Rafael Lopes struck home to give them a narrow win.

20-year-old Boateng scored once as Ghana were eliminated by Mali in the round of 16 at the U20 World Cup in New Zealand last year.

He has made six appearances for Moreirense in the league this season, twice from the start and scored thrice.
