Dr Kyei ready to accept Fabin back

Executive Board Chairman of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Dr Kwame Kyei, says he is surprised at the Coach Paa Kwesi Fabin’s decision to resign and is ready to accept him back.

Coach Paa Kwesi Fabin, resigned from his role as the head coach of the Porcupine Warriors on Thursday with five months to end his one-year contract.

The former Black Starlets coach tendered in his resignation after training on Thursday morning, citing circumstances beyond his control as the reason for his action.

His sudden decision to quit the club after some impressive performances in recent club friendlies came as a shock to Kotoko fans and club officials, who least expected it.

Equally surprised at the coach’s behaviour was the Executive Board Chairman of the club, Dr Kwame Kyei.

Speaking to a Kumasi-based FOX FM, Dr Kyei expressed his dismay at the coach’s decision. "if the coach thought something was not right, he should have called to tell me. So I’m quite surprised at his actions.”

Dr Kyei also revealed that a new one-year contract was in the pipeline for the Ghanaian gaffer who has been brilliant since his appointment.

"i gave him one year but upon observing him, I realised he can do the job so I was ready to give him another contract. If he rescinds his decision I am ready to accept him.”

Coach Paa Kwesi Fabin had been in charge of the Porcupine Warriors for the past seven months after replacing Steve Polack, who was sacked due to poor performance.

He recently defeated arch rivals, Accra Hearts of Oak, 2-0 back-to-back in a special friendly in Kumasi.
