Coronavirus: Consider students in remote areas – MP

Member of Parliament for Afram Plains North, Madam Betty Krosby-Mensah, has called on the government, through the Ministry of Education and the Ghana Education Service to consider students living in remote areas in the implementation of educational policies during this COVID-19 period.

According to the MP, pupils living in remote areas lack internet connectivity and electricity hence educational policies rolled out by the Government would not favour them.

“It is not every community that has electricity and internet connectivity. How can students in such communities cope with the policies being implemented by the Ministry of Education? They need to take into consideration these kids because at the end of the day, they compete with students from the developed communities” she said.

Madam Krosby-Mensah made the call when she visited the Dwarf Island, a remote community in the Kwahu Afram Plains North District where she donated items to the residents there to aid them in the fight against COVID-19.

The MP used the opportunity to also educate the people on the Island on how best they can stay safe during this period and also donated boxes of hand sanitizers, veronica buckets, and liquid soap among others to the people on the Dwarf Island.

Madam Krosby-Mensah as well donated bags of cement to Kedekope, Diborkope and Zion to aid them in completing of their on-going Clinic and School projects.
