Choosing Blay over me will kill morale of NPP youth – Ntim

Four-time failed National Chairman Aspirant of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Stephen Ntim, has said his latest loss at the party’s 26th National Delegates Conference in Koforidua on Saturday, 7 July, has the potential to discourage the youth in the party.

Mr Ntim has been a long-standing member of the NPP before Mr Freddie Blay, who won the Chair slot on Saturday, left the Convention People’s Party (CPP) to join the NPP. Mr Ntim and his camp thought the delegates and the party should have rewarded his loyalty by voting for him on his fourth attempt.

However, he polled 2,515 votes as against 3,021 of Mr Blay with Dr Richard Amoako Baah managing just 18 votes.

In an interview on Class91.3FM’s Executive Breakfast Show with Moro Awudu on Monday, 9 July 2018, Mr Ntim said it was “unfortunate that I had to lose for the fourth time”.

“To the younger generation, it might discourage them, that one is a possibility. They want to see that somebody who has been so loyal, committed [and] dedicated is recognised and rewarded accordingly.

“I kept saying during my campaign that if we succeed in rewarding Ntim now, it will serve as a motivation to the younger generation to give off their best in their service to the party,” he stressed.

Despite his four-time loss, Mr Ntim says he remains loyal to the party.
