Chairman of Queens Management C'tee in favour of league system

Accra, July 15, GNA - Mr Aloysius Denkabe, Chairman of the Management Committee of the Black Queens has proposed a well- organized national league system for women soccer.

The Chairman told the GNA Sports that a well organised league system, "is the only way to improve and package the brand of women's game to the outside world".

Mr Denkabe said he has the belief that the remarkable feats of the Black Queens in recent times was a good enough reason for stakeholders to invest in the women's game, which he said has the potential to turn around the fortunes of the country's global leather.

"The Queens have over and again proved their capabilities and I strongly believe it is just about time they got the necessary mechanisms to maximize their potentials".

The Chairman believes the time has come for stakeholders to market the women's game in order to "strengthen our aim of building a solid team that will be an envy of all", he added.

Mr Denkabe told the GNA Sports that his outfit would soon embark on national sensitisation of the game in their quest to sell the idea and seek the support of more stakeholders to make the programme succeed. He said the Committee, as a matter of urgency, would hold talks with the various league clubs with the primary aim of convincing them to attach ladies clubs to their clubs to engender competition and develop the game in the process.

The Chairman said the Committee, as a starter will negotiate for some of the ladies teams to feature in curtain raisers and exhibition games during league, international and continental games.

"We believe it will be wise to use the men to achieve this aim. At least they can assists us in succeeding where they have already chalked successes".

The Chairman further said the Committee has plans of selling the idea of forming women's teams in the various educational institutions as part of the plans of carrying the idea to the grassroots.
