‘Are you a social media spin or anti-govt agency?’ – NSA Boss fires Domelevo

The National Sports Authority has denied allegations of financial misappropriation and mismanagement levelled against it by the Auditor-General.

A report by the Audit Service which surfaced last week revealed gross financial indiscipline at the NSA and the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

Among other things stipulated in the reports were orders for a refund of a GHC 10,683,044 internally generated fund which cannot be accounted for and a refund of GH¢180,494 to the management of the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

Addressing the development on Asempa FM, the Board Chairman of the NSA, Kwadwo Baah Agyemang said that his outfit is yet to receive any communique from the Auditor-General on the said misappropriation of funds.

He confirmed that an audit has been conducted on the NSA’s finances but denied receiving the report.

Kwadwo Baah Agyemang appeared unhappy about the issue and expressed his frustration at the conduct of the Auditor-General.

According to him the leakage of the report to the media is an affront to standard practices within a government organization.

The former Asante Akyem North MP questioned the intentions of the Auditor-General in releasing the report to the media instead of the authority.

“What hurts is that we all work for the government so when we see something wrong somewhere, we have channels through which we get these issues to be addressed. We have channels of communication. I called the Director-General after seeing the report and he denied knowledge. Officially I have not received any report from the Auditor-General about his audit and investigation. He has not written to us”.

“We don’t govern a country on social media so it hurts that we have to respond to reports circulating on social media. We can’t tell if the report is from the Auditor-General or not. I don’t have any document officially. I don’t know the intentions of the Auditor-General. Whether he is a social media spin or anti-government agency. I don’t even know how to brand him”, he said.
