Amponfi Junior hands over Western Region NSA post

The outgoing hardworking Western Regional Sports Director, Kwame Amponfi Jnr, has handed over the baton to Jeffrey K. Manzan Owusu from Greater Accra to continue from where he left off on August 14.

Mr Amponfi Jnr, who earned the praises of the Minister of Youth and Sports, Mr Isaac Asiamah, for the good maintenance of the Sekondi Sports Stadium during a recent inspection tour, has taken a breather in order to enjoy his accumulated statutory leave.

In a letter dated August 8, the Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Robert Sarfo Mensah, endorsed Mr Amponfi Jnr's request to embark on a leave to enable him to attend to some critical welfare issues.

In a short hand over ceremony in Accra, Mr Amponfi Jnr assured all stakeholders of the Western Region NSA and the Ministry of Youth and Sports of his commitment to ensure that the legitimate sports developmental and promotional needs of the people were urgently catered for as they duly deserve.

He said, "I am indeed, highly optimistic that the same maximum support and cooperation that I enjoyed would be extended to my successor, Mr Jeffrey K. Manzan, to help him succeed at his new post."

Mr Sarfo Mensah said the transfer of Mr Owusu to assume the responsibility of Western Region sports was to help sustain the ongoing Sekondi Sports Stadium and other facilities’ maintenance works, as well as the preparations towards both the WAFU Tournament and the National Sports Festival.
