President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has reiterated his confidence in the Office of the Special Prosecutor to deal with corrupt government officials.

Speaking at a media encounter in Accra, the President said the Office is expected to get rid of the fear of partisan prosecution among Ghanaians.

According to the President, the Special Prosecutor will deal with all corrupt officials regardless of their party affiliations.

“Let me state again, that current office holders are as likely to be investigated and prosecuted by the Special Prosecutor if a case is made out against them, as past office holders,” President Akufo-Addo said.

He also reiterated the need for the application of the rule of law at all times to ensure fairness in all dealings.

The President expressed confidence in his appointees to not engage in any corrupt practice.

He, however, stated that no member of his administration will be shielded if found culpable of any wrongdoing.
