Africa Athletics Champs.: Dasor, Abeyie advance to quarter finals

The 19th Africa Athletics Championships (AAC) is underway in Marrakech, Morocco, with Team Ghana looking set to make the nation proud.

Top Ghanaian athletes like Sprint Queen Janet Amponsah, 400m runner Daniel Gyasi, Solomon Afful, Emmanuel Dasor and Elizabeth Dadzie all made Team Nigeria’s contingent to Marrakech.

In the men's 100m heats, Ghana's trio Timothy Abeyie (10.46s), Solomon Afful (10.44s) and Emmanuel Dasor (10.41s) all made it to the quarter-finals after qualifying from their respective heats.

Sprinters Flings Owusu-Agyapong, Beatrice Gyaman and Gemma Acheampong have also qualified to the women's 100m semi finals. Betrice Gyaman finished third in Heat 1 on 11.77s, Flings Owusu-Agyapong won her heat on 11.62s and Gemma Yacoba Acheampong placed second on 11.77s in Heat 4.

In the men's Decathlon, Atsu Nyamadi throws 13.40m in the shot put event, his best throw in the event.
