Aduana coronation at Dormaa set for Sunday

Premier League champions, Aduana Stars, will be crowned with the 2016/2017 Premier League title at a coronation ceremony at Dormaa-Ahenkro on Sunday.

Aduana Stars, who were due to be decorated at Obuasi last Sunday, requested for a week’s delay of their coronation as the new champions to enable them to celebrate their second league title in style.

The Premier League Board (PLB) will present the championship trophy and medals to players and officials after a ceremonial match against a club in the Brong Ahafo Region.

Aduana had requested to receive the league trophy and medals in front of their home fans at Dormaa-Ahenkro,instead of Obuasi where they played Ashantigold in their final league match of the season.

A press release issued by the PLB ahead of the final matches of the league season read "The Premier LeagueBoard (PLB) has decided that Premier League champions, Aduana Stars will be crowned during a special coronation match in Dormaa-Ahenkro on November 5, 2017.

"The decision by the PLB follows a request by Aduana Stars for a special coronation match on November 5, 2017 in front of their home fans in Dormaa-Ahenkro, instead of being crowned in Obuasi during Match Day 30 with Ashantigold," it added.

Aduana Stars won their first league title in 2010 under the late Coach Herbert Addo, right from promotion from Division One.
