Assign psychologists to female national teams - Black Queens coach Mercy Tagoe pleads with GFA

Head coach of the Black Queens, Mercy Tagoe-Quarcoo is imploring the Ghana Football Association to assign psychologists to the female national teams.

The former Black Queens player insists the treatment of female footballers is largely different from their male counterparts, hence the reason for the employing of team psychologist to help the female national teams.

"I will plead with the Ghana Football Association to assign a psychologist to all the national teams especially the women’s teams because we are different," she told Happy FM.

Tagoe was handed the role as head coach of the Black Queens at the beginning of the year after serving as an assistant at the 2018 Africa Women Cup of Nations.

Before the AWCON, she had won the WAFU Zone B cup of nations with the team in Ivory Coast earlier that year.

Football in Ghana is currently at a halt due to COVID-19, but ex-Halifax FC coach says the Football Association needs to put in place a good scouting system to help in identifying talents for the various national teams.

"Scouting is very vital in forming a formidable team. I was scouting for players for my former team Halifax Ladies as their head coach," she added.
