Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City has reacted to claims by a section of the Ghanaian public suggesting the services provided by the luxury hotel are very expensive to the effect that a bowl of gari soakings sells at an exorbitant rate of GHC145.

General Manager of Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City, Manish Nambiar in a recent interview on the sidelines of its first soiree for media personnel has described the said claims as false and urged Ghanaians to treat it as such.

He insists the Kempinski Hotel is the only luxury brand in Ghana that has lowered rates of rooms and food despite the quality, therefore, assertions that the hotel charges outrageously are mere fabrications and exaggerations.

Many Ghanaians on social media were dumbfounded after a viral picture showed that the five-star hotel was charging GHC145 for a bowl of “Cassava flakes and whole milk with coconut shavings and roasted peanut” popularly known as gari soakings at its restaurant.

They wondered why the hotel could overprice such a common meal which one can spend less than GHC5 to enjoy.

But according to Mr. Nambiar, the hotel’s restaurant only serves gari on a buffet and not on its menu as an individual meal as alleged.

He explains, “Unfortunately these things aren’t true. They’re sensational lies and exaggerating some of the fact. Gari is served in the restaurant on a buffet. It’s not served individually as it is. It forms part of our special Ghanaian team that we have on our buffet.”

Mr. Nambiar stressed that inasmuch Kempinski has been tagged the most expensive luxury hotel in Ghana, the hotel is committed to offering excellent products that meet the high demands and standards of its clients while maintaining “a luxury brand with an European flair and a Ghanaian heart”.

He explains, “What we do is we provide a lot of value for money. We believe in quality, we believe in luxury and we like that all our customers who eat here find that value, appreciate it and come back because they enjoyed themselves.”

He urged Ghanaians to opt for quality and include the Kempinski hotel in their various events and have a feel of the luxurious experience in the coming year.
