Government to lay 190km of pipelines across Ghana – Ofori-Atta reveals

More communities across the length and breadth of the country will have access to potable water in 2019 under the government’s “Water for All” agenda, the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta has revealed.

Presenting the 2019 Budget and Economic Policy Statement of the Government of Ghana on the floor of Parliament, Thursday, the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta told Members that the government under its “Water for All” agenda will ensure continuous expansion of urban water systems in the country.

In line with this, Mr. Ofori-Atta revealed that 190km of pipelines will be laid across the country while ensuring the expansion of the Kpong Water Supply Project, Yendi Water Project, Tamale Water Project, Damongo Water Project, Wenchi Water Project, Tamale Water Supply Project, Sunyani Water Project, Sekondi Water Project and Essiama Water Project.

In addition to this, the Finance Minister said the government will also construct nine (9) water systems each in the Northern and Central Regions, five (5) in Brong-Ahafo Region and two (2) in the Upper West Region.

The Government, according to Mr. Ken Ofori-Atta, will further construct twelve (12) fully articulated small towns pipe systems and six (6) limited mechanized systems in the Volta Region.
