Nana Akufo Addo and his government are doing reasonable well, in the face of some difficulties which nevertheless, would have to be confronted. There are difficulties, yes, but we must investigate what may have brought on the unpalatable situation. There is not much free money around these days, we must admit. People are not getting paid big monies for contracts, Ghost names are disappearing from government books. No major layoff of workers have happened in recent times. Besides these, over twelve billion cedis have been moved from the economy to support an ailing banking sector. We seem to be less concerned about the cause of this big mess. We don't even equate it to the on going difficulties. But we are quick to point at rising costs of goods and services which have direct links to the rot of the past. We complain about costs of petroleum products and do not stop to think of what will result, if government reduced the pump prices. One thing l am sure will happen. There will be an increase in smuggling of petroleum products across the boarders. Government will thereby have to needlessly import more to take care of our neighbors. Ghanaians will be poorer thereby.
