A former Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Ken Dzirasah has stated that it will be difficult for former President John Mahama to attract new voters due to some disrespectful characters around him.

According to him, the disrespect meted out to some elders of the National Democratic Congress including Mr. Kojo Yankah does not augur well for the chances of the former President.

“The point is that these young political youth that surrounds president Mahama, some of them have intemperate language.

“…We are building a party and when we are building a party we should be placed in a strategic position that we are not found wanting and disrespect to elders of the party is a non-starter,” Mr. Dzirasah told Bola Ray on Starr Chat Wednesday.

The former South Tongu MP reiterated his position that former President Mahama must reconsider his decision to lead the party as the flagbearer ahead of the 2020 elections.

Mr. Dzirasah stated that Joshua Alabi is more marketable and has what it takes to clinch victory for the NDC in the next elections.

“I have discovered in Joshua Alabi the personality that can carry us across the river…he is the one individual that when you look at his profile…he is one person who has served his public due.”

Mr. Mahama is being contested by 10 other stalwarts of the NDC including second deputy Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin, former Trades minister Ekwow Spio- Garbrah, former NHIA boss Sylvester Mensah and former UPSA Vice Chancellor Joshua Alabi for the flagbearership position scheduled for December this year.
