The younger brother of former President John Dramani Mahama, Ibrahim Mahama has disclosed that he acquired most of his wealth under the first New Patriotic Party (NPP) government, led by President John Agyekum Kufuor.

At an entrepreneurial lecture organized by Graduate Students’ Association of Ghana (GRASAG) in Accra on Tuesday, the businessman discounted claims he made much money under his brother, who is the immediate past president of Ghana.

According to him, his businesses rather started taking a nosedive under the administration of John Mahama contrary to the widely held perception they flourished under his watch.

“I became successful much more in Kufuor’s time because I had nobody hanging round my neck. I rather regret when my brother became vice president”.Mr. Mahama told the students.

He disclosed that his businesses have started making some significant progress under the Akufo-Addo’s administration compared to the regime of his brother.

“Today NPP is in power; I likely won’t get favors but I’m even doing better than I was doing when my brother was president”. He disclosed.

To buttress his claim, Mr Mahama cited an instance where he recently employed over 3,000 workers mostly Ghanaians in one of his establishments.

“Just about two weeks ago, I’ve employed at least about 3,000 Ghanaians to work for me. I pay more tax than any Ghanaian in this country yet those who pay tax don’t will insult me as if they contribute to this country”, he revealed.

Speaking on the Role of Entrepreneurship in Reducing Graduate Unemployment and Achieving SDGs, he revealed that there a lot of opportunities in present day compared to when he started his business and urged them to take advantage of.
