Ghana Esports Association has called on government and corporate entities to assist the organization in representing the country in international competitions.

In an exclusive interview with GhanaWeb, president of the association, Kwasi Hayford bemoaned the little recognition given to the organization, adding that participation in previous competitions were funded by individuals.

“Ghana has participated in one or two ESports competitions. There are other ESports firms that go on their own. But all this time, it has been individual effort; individuals putting their money into the ESports in Ghana. People organizing tournaments and taking players to France, US to play. It has been individual efforts”, he lamented.

He added that; “Now that we are trying to put all that effort into one; that is what ESports Ghana is all about. That we could be recognized by government, we could be recognized by corporate Ghana to support so that we could participate in international tournaments”.

Kwasi Hayford disclosed Esports Ghana’s hopes of becoming a member of the International e-Sports Federation, as it readies itself for an upcoming tournament in France.

“This year, we will try to go to France. Last two years we were in France to participate and nobody sponsored us. Virtual Union, which is an affiliate of ESports organized the event, took somebody to France. And this year, we will repeat the same thing. We are also bidding to be a member of international ESports Federation”, he stated.

Ghana Esports Association is a non-profit organization which seeks to unify the stakeholders in electronic sports and competitive video gaming through friendly gaming tournaments.
