Modou Jobe Modou Jobe

Modou Jobe, captain of the national team of Gambia, says his side is prepared to upset Ghanaians in the opening game of the West African Football Union (WAFU) tournament scheduled for September 9, at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium.

Speaking to the press at the Essipong Sports Stadium, Jobe 29, said they would neither be intimidated by their status as underdogs nor as visitors on Saturday.

He said although it would be difficult, they are prepared to humiliate the Black Stars in front of their own fans.

"Gambia would upset Ghana and progress to the second phase of the competition. Obviously we are the underdogs, but we are not intimidated by that.

"It’s going to be difficult especially in an opening game, but we are ready to progress to the next phase of the competition. We are very confident and determined to make our country proud on Saturday.” Jobe said.

He expressed gratitude to Ghanaians and the local organizing committee (LOC) for their warm reception since they arrived in the country.

"Honestly the hospitality has been good so far, the people are very friendly and we really appreciate the effort of the local organizing committee.

"We feel very comfortable because we’ve prepared well for this tournament. We are very positive going into this game, although we are playing against the host nation”. He added.
