Former Deputy Ashanti Regional Minister, Joseph Yamin and the Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency, Emmanuel Kyeremateng Agyarko traded insults at each other on live television over the latest anti-galamsey task force happenings.

It was nearly as though the two were ready to enter the boxing ring as the two firebrands quarrelled on UTV’s Adekye Nsroma.

The issue under discussion was the anti-galamsey operation that resulted in the death of one civilian.

Responding to the development, Mr. Agyarko said government gave some instructions to both the task force and those involved in illegal mining and so going contrary to those rules could end up badly.

He added that even though he is against humans killing each other, it is important to note that things can get messy when rules are not adhered to.

“Government has given us very clear instructions. The task force has been given very clear instructions as to how to handle the issue. I am against people killing each other. I am against the death sentence. It is only God who can kill a man because we are His creation.

“In certain situations, people have clarity on what to do and don’t do it. We have a national issue and once dealing with it, in the process some wrong things may happen,” he mentioned.

Joseph Yamin responded by saying the government was to be blamed as inferring from what Hon. Agyarko said they do not mind that people are being killed.

“The government is a bad one, allow me to talk about it. Today, because you are in power you are saying when someone is killed it is okay. Honourable is saying when one is engaged in galamsey, they can be shot dead. We should be condemning the offence. It is more serious than anything. We are talking about someone’s life here,” he said.

This comment did not go down well with the MP for Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency as he shouted at Hon. Yamin to desist from ‘putting words in his mouth’.

The banter went on for a period of time with the two men shouting at each other and raining insults on each other.

Hon. Agyarko accused Joseph Yamin of politicking the issue, and not looking at it objectively.

“I will continue to put words in your mouth. I came to this studio on my own. I am here to say what I want to say and how I want to say it,” he retorted.
