I HAVE BEEN READING GHANAWEB FOR SOME TIME NOW AND I WILL BE HAPPY IF THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION WOULD SIT DOWN AND DRAW UP A NEW SYLLABUS FOR THE EDUCATION OF JOURNALISTS IN GHANA TO BRING THEM TO INTERNATIONAL STANDARDS. READING THEIR REPORTS ONE FINDS REPEATED CHILDISH MISTAKES, POOR ENGLISH AND OVERBLOWN HEADLINES THAT DO NOT MATCH THE REPORTED STORIES. I OFTEN ASK MYSELF IF THERE ARE QUALIFIED TEACHERS FOR STUDENTS OF JOURNALISM AND IF THE STUDENTS WHO CHOOSE TO READ JOURNALISM HAVE ANY GOOD GRADES TO DO THE COURSE. AND ARE THERE PROOF READERS AT GHANAWEB TO CROSS-CHECK REPORTS BEFORE THEY ARE PUBLISHED. GHANA HAS ONE OF THE BEST EDUCATED CITIZENRY IN AFRICA AND IT BEHOVES OF ITS NEWSPAPERS AND JOURNALS TO WRITE STANDARD ENGLISH BECAUSE THE WHOLE WORLD READS GHANAWEB. IT IS A DISGRACE TO READ SUCH ELEMENTARY MISTAKES. READ THE ABOVE REPORT. THE WRITE WROTE THE PAST TENSE OF GRIND AS GRINDED. EVEN A CLASS ONE PUPIL CAN CORRECT GHANAWEB REPORTERS. SAVE US FROM SHAME, PLEASE.
