HOWEVER, THE THRUST OF THAT ONEROUS RESPONSIBILITY DEPENDS UPON HOW POLICE OFFICERS PERFORMED SUCH ONEROUS RESPONSIBILITY TO COMMENSURATE WITH THE RESPECT TO BE ACCORDED THE POLICE OFFICERS. THEREFORE IT IS TOTALLY WRONG TO ATTACK POLICE OFFICERS AND NONETHELESS TO KILL POLICE OFFICERS. THAT IT WAS UNACCEPTABLE TO KILL POLICE OFFICERS AND SUCH PERPETRATORS TO BE DEALT WITH IF APPREHENDED. THIS IS BECAUSE NOBODY CAN TAKE THE LAW INTO HIS/HER HANDS BUT TO REPORT ANY CRIMINAL ACTS PERPETRATED AGAINST THEM TO THE POLICE TO INVESTIGATE AND APPREHEND THE CRIMINAL SUSPECTS FOR PROSECUTION. THEREFORE IT BEHOOVES ON THE POLICE TO PERFORM ITS FUNCTIONS PROFESSIONALLY WITH DUE DILIGENCE TO HELP THE PUBLIC OR THE VICTIMS TO HAVE RESPECT ABD TRUST FOR THE POLICE. HOWEVER, THE FACT CANNOT ALSO BE DENIED THAT SOME POLICE OFFICERS ABUSED THAT TRUST AND RATHER ENGAGED IN WRONG DOING AND THAT IS VERY TROUBLING AND THEN TO ERODE THE TRUST AND RESPECT THEY HAVE FOR THE POLICE. Did the police not recently shoot their own recently at Dawdawa having mistaken him for an armed robber? Either Ghanaians don't think critically or too partisan and don't care about their own welfare.

There's a crime wave that's descending on Ghana/west Africa that would dwarf by comparison, the amount and severity of the crimes that the region is now experiencing.

The IGP has my complete empathy, his words may sound contradictory, and some may criticize his choice of words, however, his job is to highly motivate his young recruits who's job it is to man the first line of defense against some of the most ruthless criminals, who rape, rob, murder and terrorize entire communities.

Foreign governments, are deporting thousands of hardened criminals who've served prison time in foreign jails for various crimes, these criminals cannot respect policemen without weapons, as a result, more police personnel will die at the hands of said criminals, if police do not upgrade their crime fighting operation.

In today's world, an unarmed uniformed policeman is on a suicide mission, the uniform is no longer a deterrent, arm the police in order to enable them to match the armed criminals bullet for bullet.
