There are seven groups of families such as the Asomani family (the Head of all the families), the Yaa Ansaa family, the Yaa Botwe family, Mensa Wood’s family (from which I believe former UN Secretary General, Kofi Annan comes from), and other three families; so for the Yaa Ansaa family to claim the black stool to be theirs alone is untrue, and it is wrong on their part. It appears they do not know their history very well; and it is time they go back and do serious research into their family history. It is also wrong for the Yaa Botwe family trying to make it looks like a candidate must only come from either the House of Yaa Ansaa or Yaa Botwe Family to be able to ascend to the black stool which is wrong, and untrue. In Akan culture, for someone to be the Head of a family, that individual is in charge of the family and the black stool; and that individual also can ascend to the black stool so for the Yaa Botwe family trying to limit the candidates to the House of Yaa Ansaa and Yaa Botwe by eliminating
the Asomani (Amanguahene) and other families from it is incorrect and greedy. The Yaa Botwe Family shouldn’t think that they can bully others by hanging on to the the black stool; this would only continue to bring division among us and not peace as similar incident brought divisions between Akwamus and Dormaas. I believe it is time for Nana Afrakoma II to think twice about what she is doing; and I also believe that it is time for Odeneho Kwarfo Akoto III to step down for all the families to come together and put proper structure together, and also work together to elect someone either himself or someone else in a peaceful way which would lead to the development of the area. Some of us live outside and want to bring investors to come and help the development of the area but one cannot do that because of this problem; so it is time for all of them to come together as one family to help the development of the area.

As an Akwamu, ( paternal) I find this 25 year dispute very unfortunate. It was succession disputes the drove our forebearers from the middle belt to the south and eventually to our current place.
Mr. Kofi Annan is not the problem. The current occupants of the Akwamu Blackstool who are making noise should rather turn the mirror at themselves and seek a path for a lasting peace?
Reverent power which our chieftancy has become except for land and mineral wealth control,- it is the peoplle ( subjects) , despite traditions , that legitimize the reign of any chief. No government or committee of house of chiefs can impose anyone on the people. Our traditions regarding chieftancy succession must move with the times we live in. A lasting peace may be achieved if the Botwe and Ansaah royal families can come to some agreement of Royal family rotation going forward as tof who maybe occupiy the Akwamu black stool?
Despite the Akosombo dam being within Akwamuman , we have allowed a 25 year dispute to retard our economic progress on our land. Under Nana Kwafo Akoto II we had Adomi bridge, two major textile factories ( ATL and Juspong) . We have failed to capitalize on the enormous tourism potential due to Akosombo Dam site . In Akwamuman.This 25 year dispute has affected all sustainable development idevelopment in the area. Akumuman is stirring on a Gold mine of economic potential. We urge the current king makers of the Botwe family not to personalize this dispute. Kofi Annan is not the problem.. They should try to seek some accommodation with the Ansaah family to bring peace and make the development of Akwamuan the priority going forward. Nana Kwafo Akoto III is an educated young man .He should see his legacy would be how he creates a peaceful environment and work with the District assembly, investors to harness the economic development potential for Akwamuman. Peace is the answer not who wins in this unfortunate dispute . !!!

Who by his emotional speeches and wrong judgement could be a potential suspect in the bribery allegation culminating to the ruling from the house of chiefs. The fact that he furiously gave the verdict in the ruling depicts that there could be some form of bribery. Ghanaian Chiefs clear and comfortably verdict in their ruling backed by clear facts and historical proves.
