Farmers need bullshit which means it has some use. Prof Lungu is tasking the mind. Try to think of answers The point is these pieces are simply for the objective minds if ever there is a mind which qualifies as such. The next tasking questions which will follow will be what will the factory in Dadekotopon be producing OR Parliament will decide.
When The Osagyefo was overthrown he could not understand what hit him. In exile, he was on about "my akosombo""my this and my that"- all infrastructures, in his re-birth again nothing changed. In his State of The Nation address he was still on "my massive infracstructures". Pushed off the seat with "no message". His Excellency John Dramani Mahama will never be put to shame. He had a very clear messsage "transforming Ghana". Most want monies they did not know how it will reach them. The deed is done and perhaps solutions will be found. Even communist China may offer a hand as well as communist Russia. It is your guess!
US President Abraham Lincoln and most of their Presidents have pushed the axiom "what i will do for my country and not what my country will do for me". Fellow Ghanaians if Professor Lungu cannot understand this hasty package of $1m per district which won the election - on what basis did the kayayoo voted for this change?

WE SAY: Moniker is "Prof Lungu".
Also, we do not "understand" Akufo Addo's million-dollar cash giveaways to voting districts only the extent it is targeting an inappropriate object, "Voting District", that there is no Constitutional basis for that sort of idea.
Are they looking for Votes during elections, or are they looking for development for all the people, or are they doing and expecting both, but using money that belongs to ALL THE PEOPLE?
That is their problem.

Thanks Prof Lungu for a job well executed.
At the end of the day, I hope Akufo-Addo and Bawumia are reading this and paying attention to the core issues you are raising and analyzing and discussing with rational, pragmatic finesse, a Ghana-centered methodology, so to speak.

The idea is laudable and if it comes into fruition will hugely benefit each district. The districts receiving $1million per year each will allow resources to be readily available to each district and take away the central ineffective planning and resource distribution. It will guarantee a base amount for each district and proper usage under strict gov't monitoring, which will sow the seeds of decentralization and facilitate its cement action. It will also allow entrepreneurs to partner with districts and make the 1 district 1 factory a quicker realization because of more focus and flexibility in planning and prioritizing without asking central gov't for financial assistance and being bugged down in bureaucratic processes. Pay respect to this brilliant idea Prof. Lungu and stop using unsubstantiated numbers and abstract excuses to challenge a fundamentally sound idea, come again.

Safe to say you either have your "districts" crossed, you do not know what has been proposed that is the subject, or you plainly have not read the 2 articles.

Know that a government of the people ought to be fair/equitable/accountable. As such, "no matter what the size of a district is better than zero!" does not wash.
Take would be taking from some and giving to some, for crying out loud.
What do you know previous government did with that development money?
A Ghana-centered government ought not to stack the table in its favor by buying votes with the Peoples money.
You are "critical" but not critical enough to notice that we are not against the idea.
We are merely putting new Prez Akufo Addo Dankwa's feet to the fire.

President Akufo Addo and his Vice President only need to be honest with themselves and tell the people paying those sums of monies to "Voting Districts" just wont work for Ghana, that if given to the Administrative Districts, the most logical, they just can't use the funds for just about anything they what", etc.
That there is no Constitutional basis for the promise right now.
That is our argument.
We have Part 3 coming (today, or Monday-Tuesday). That paper presents data showing the Regions that will actually win and receive more money relative to the size of their population (Upper East, Upper West, etc.), and who will in fact lose (Ashanti Region, Central, Western, etc.), relative to the size of the population.
Peace!

Ghana is not operating under a federal system of government for 'Christ sake'. This political slogan is being dusted into eyes of well-minded Ghanaians by the incoming government. The conceptual argument deserves a clear explanation on $1million per district mantra. Is Ghana moving away from our centralised system of government to decentralization system?. The framework for constitutional overhaul will need an approval from the nation parliament. In it current form, it is not constitutional binding to take stand-alone approach in doling out money to district by a political party without going through parliament approval. Perhaps, Akufo Addo, is purely lacking a very deep understanding of our political processes or an attempt to bypass due process. The nation is in trouble!!!##

WE SAY: Henceforth, please underscore the idea that Prez Akufo Addo and his Vice Prez are talking about using "Voting Districts" for the $1M awards, to be used for anything they want.
The Constitution itself is a problem. What Akufo Addo's Parliament does, another Parliament can "delete".
But a revised, rejuvenated Constitution will be a document of all the People, approved by all the People. Much of the work has already been done.
So, what is President Akufo Addo waiting for, and why?
Greetings.
