I agree with Dr. Ndum that the president must pay tax. There is no free lunch in America and there shouldn't be one in Ghana. Every Tom, Dick and Harry should pay tax. According to economists, tax is used to run the government; in paying teachers who educate, the soldiers who defend the country, the police who maintain the peace, the civil servants who provide administration, etc.

I agree 200% with Dr. Nduom that Presidents should pay tax and as such the constitution should be amended. Even Obama and his vice Biden who presides over one of the largest economies in the world pays taxes. Last year the Obamas earned $436,065.00 and out of it they paid $81,472.00 in federal taxes. In addition to it they paid $16,017.00 to the state of Illinois as state tax. Furthermore they paid $1,766 extra for medicare tax, and on top of it they donated $64,066.00 to charities. Vice President Biden also made $392,233.00 and out of it they paid $91,546.00 in federal taxes. They also paid $13,729 to the stste of Delaware as state tax, they also paid $3,882.00 to the stste of Virginia and donated $6,620.00 to charities. Mahama is enjoing all facilities including free accommodation, feeding, clothing, transportstion, medical, entertainment, paid vacations, cooks, body guards, gardeners, men in waiting and ladies in waiting for his wife, etc, yet he does not pay even a dime in taxes. This is unacceptable and must be changed. If even a messengr is paying tax in Ghana why not the Prsident and his vice. We live in a society where our leaders are somewhat worshipped like thin gods while th citizens live like slaves in their own country. This must be changd and i appeal to Nana Addo to set the ball rolling. Time had been told and the nation wreckers, the NDC are plugged out bringing in a dynamic leadership under Nana, and he has to show the way.

The other important point is all Ghanaians living abroad and of voting age and of sound mind should be given the opportunity by the electoral system to vote. They contribute to the Gh economy so should be given the choice to vote!!!!!!
We should have votes in our original constituencies we come from . That's only fair.

This is a no brainer! Nduom is right. EVERYBODY who earns wages or salaries in Ghana MUST pay taxes to the GRA. The President Vice President, Ministers, Deputy Ministers, Chief Justice, All Justices of the Supreme Court and Court if Appeals, ALL CEOs of any state institutions, whether they are paid in cedis or any other currency. If a private sector person earns money by being an agent or representative of a foreign organization, any income earned must be taxed. The reason Nduom gave for.his suggestion is a good one, but beyond that is a simple matter of equity. When the President (and others) are being taxed, they will be more circumspect imposing taxes on the people wily nilly, as Set Terkper has been doing in Ghana.
