What is the correct or tradinal way to follow when one returns to his/her hometown from abroad?
Do you go to individuals to say hello or they come to you to say welcome?

You only make yourself a 'santa claus' (father Christmas) for going round to greet your extended relatives.
To them, even if they are 'stinking'-rich folks, all what they still expect from you is not bunch of flowers as done ...

You only make yourself a 'santa claus' (father Christmas) for going round to greet your extended relatives.
To them, even if they are 'stinking'-rich folks, all what they still expect from you is not bunch of flowers as done in the diaspora traditions & also that's not our ritual tradition because in the back of their minds, they only believe that they don't eat weeds as the sheep & goats do.
But they rather expect you to thrust a folded or a rolled bank note into their palms when you give a hand-shake.
Just ask me why,
Simply because most of them there, almost everyone back home have that mindset that here in the Diaspora we get every thing free, thus free money as well, which you will agree with me that that's absolutely not true as they think.
I once heard this perception on one of the famous radio stations as one presenter was claiming that on air to the nation wide listeners.
Ama, don't also expect that if any individual comes to you to say welcome for nothing without expecting to get something from you or to go with empty hand!!
So just becareful with our well known traditions which has turned something else these days!!

In real ,not all Ghanaians residing abroad are Burgers,Burgers are only the Ghanaians residing in Germany,burger is the German word meaning ,a citizen,those residing in other countries must search for their nicknames

In his first paragraph, his definition is totally wrong,
but yet still I'd believe that he personally don't understand that word since he resides not in Europe but in the US,
burger also means citizen in the Dutch language ...

burger also means citizen in the Dutch language as well as in German,
whiles not all Ghanaian residing in these both countries are citizens,
but it's just been a common nickname to call anyone living outside Ghana a "burger" or "borger" as usual, period
