If transportation, electrification and other factors like quality of teaching and school infrastructure were generally adequate, days high schools would be a better option for many

Their responsibility are national GDP .and how how they will balance budget, pay off their debt, create wealth and protctecting the citizens and how will it get accomplishe all these..some of them by loans from China, local Taxes, and foreign investment. As a people of the nation, how will we become responsible people.it is by creating credibility: and how, borrowing to create wealth and repaying what we borrow and that makes us become good credibly .As.a nation we must stop cash upfront , we must learn to borrow and repay ,we must build credit and if my grandpa borrow money and build mansion in my nation, it is my responsibility to pay it off because my grandpas has invested fix assets in my name does that make my grandpa "idiot" ..he'll know..

Don't confuse us with what the Greeks meant by idiot. The Latin idiota and the Greek idiotes both connote an ignorant person even if the Greek word refers to a layman (somebody who does not know).
The fact is that in Ghana, if someone says "idiot" he or she is not referring to the Latin or Greek meanings but intends it as an insult. And this effectively works as an insult in Ghana mostly because we are a people who attach importance to words we regard as insults. We are a people who take insults seriously and are very offended if someone insults us.
You cannot call a Ghanaian "idiot" and say you're using the word in the Greek sense. He will feel insulted.
Manasseh, you are rather displaying an ignorance of the true situation.

U make an analogy of a father who borrows to build a house for his children, only forthe kids to pay later in life, forgetting that there are fathers who borrow and eat the money without doing anything for his children, only for the kids to realise that there are huge debt, and nothing tangible to show for it. But its unfortunate he Manasseh has forgotten his own background and insulting the President every now and then. But Manasseh must not forget that, at least President John Dramani Mahama is far better than his father. I can understand he Manasseh does not respect his father and for that matter thinks every man is like His father whom he does not respect. Mr Awuni, You have hit below the belt. Your piece reminds us that history is repeating itself. The very critique you are leveling against the NDC government was that Nkrumah and his government faced when they constructed the Motorway, and Built the Tema Harbor, Job 600 etc. You hit below the belt in this one. it is not true that any one can borrow and built; you should instead inform your readers if there is any vision in expanding and building the over pass. I used to follow your writings but you seem to have descended into the usual politicized writings that have become the bane of Ghanaian journalism. It is simplistic to suggest that anybody can borrow money to develop. Pathetic cynicism

They say, "when one lives long in the village one becomes a fool". In many instances it is true . reading what some of our writers write in Africa , and looking ariund what is going in the world , our African so called writers realky sometimes write trash. It seem they don't upgrade themselves or are not reading wilderly enough so they use to write really trash.
Awuni, in this present world there is no ciuntry not borrowing to build . if you think like this then you a big FOOL.
The US , UK , France etc Re all borrowing to build, so thinking that an African country borrowing to build dose not make sense is pure foolishness.
We should be bold to attract such loans to build for children unborn to make life a bit easier for them as some have done and we are singing praises for them.
If you don't know i want to point it to you that , the USA , is one of the indebted country in the world. It is a pity ab african educated person does not read but only uses what he or she has in his or head to think the wirld ends with what he or she knows to be .
We must try to encourage ourselves and not dwell or this did that at this time so i must be blind to what he or she is doing now too. That is the down fall of the black race. We never encourage but try to compete one another .
Is this not foolishness , when we want to go up????

The paradox of the richest but the poorest
I read about Prof Ali Mazrui, a prolific writer of African descent. This paradox has never gone away from my mind. If it is really true that rocks found in the middle of the sea do not know and can never know the hotness of the sun, then why do we as Ghanaians continue to wallow in abject poverty?
The stigma of backwardness and primitivity has been implanted not only in the minds of the innocent young and old citizens of this nation but also in the minds of some unscrupulous intellectuals most of whom I describe as ventriloquists .
What a shame for government to celebrate and glorify mediocrity as though Kantanka is of Asian descent
My brothers and sisters, this country can not continue to inhale and swallow the dust from the west. Enough is enough. Has government not picked any enviable lessons from the management of University of Ghana?

This piece is far out of touch to the respect we want to offer our opponents even in the face of critisms. You choice of words do not show maturity rather it displays your political biasness. In as much as we will all want to hold our chosen leaders accountable for what they do, we equally owe them the respect they deserve for choosing to take such positions.

I totally disagree with the writer it is never true that anybody can borrow money and build hotels hospital infrastructure etc
So far us I know people and some countries borrow but never produce or build the infrastructure that is needed .
Some business people even go for loan and misused if without putting it into good use
The situation that everybody can do what the government is doing by building infrastructure is totally wrong.
All over the develop world Government borrow to build their infrastructure.
That is the foundation for economic take off
Without the road the hospital etc how do you do business in a country
Investors are only ready to invest in a country where there is good infrastructure.
Country like USA UK France government borrow to build the infrastructure that we see and think they have beautiful cities
So please stop deceiving people with this your writing
Ghana is a nation that is growing and infrastructure is very important for economic take off

How do address rural urban drift?
Are we serious in Ghana? Why politics in everything? Azure you fail to spelt out your governance expertise you learnt in GIJ on how to develop the nation.
Well done Mannaseh! What a masterpiece.
Your line of thinking is akin to that of A-Pus coming to think of infrastructures. You showed balance in your article.
Kudos one more time.
The so called Dubai interchange is in the middle of swamp, eish! slump...
So what is his contribution to the interchange? He rather benefited from over-bloating the cost of the project and pocketing money we have to pay for in the future.
Go back to school, at least we hav 123 community shs available for u to acquire some common sense if u don't hav som.

Any idiot can criticize
Any idiot can pick a pen and paper and write gibberish.
And, any buffoon can log on to the internet and read the supposedly idiot's opinion piece. What a world we live in!
Any baboon with ugly tribal marks has the right to excercise his inferiority complex
Mannaseh, don't think you are wiser than "okura fe`". Surely, as u thought Kuffour was not doing the right thing when he was "alive", the day would come when Mahama would "die" and you would know his "length"!
