Kudos Ralph. The problem is that you have an intransigent government with a hard headed President at the helm of affairs, who understands nothing but that that is told him by his ignorant advisers. Maybe if they imbibed your well-articulated piece, they would wake up. But is there any discerning human amongst them?

Well said Mr Abolasum, I know some people down south may not see anything wrong with making UDS campuses autonomous. They may give examples of UMAT that came from KNUST. But I say it is sad and loss of focus as a nation to think of making the UDS campuses autonomous. I wonder what the committee findings were to give the President the gusts to be mentioning of the conversions.
You need to see the places they want to call as new universities and from then you would know that it is either we are not serious as a nation or we just think any crap is fitting for the people of the north.
I personally went to UDS-Wa campus during my third year field practical training and I asked my friends from there 'so where is your campus?' they started to laugh. To be honest there were about only two lecture halls, old fashioned and far apart. I saw same when I went to UDS- Navrongo campus. When I heard of the issue of making those campuses autonomous I became sad. At times the government fail us but this failure would be very great. I want Mr President to go and see for himself what he wants to call new universities.
Yes, the NDC government has done very well when it comes education but they should leave UDS alone, we thank them for establishing it, they should keep the credit and not throw it to the dogs by smashing it and bringing it to nil.
In conclusion, as a concerned UDS- Student, I think it is needless and wasteful to make UDS infant campuses autonomous. The Chiefs and the President should not destroy our only light of the north. Our alumni and present students should stand to protect our school from destruction. We would demonstrate if need be.

What was the findings for making uds an autonomous body? Are these findings positive ones and even if they are there is the need to research again. Claiming its name is not the issue but making it stands out among others is what we should be thinking of. There can be biases in their search which I suggest more research should be conducted to elucidate the hidden threat it will post to its members. My personal view.

What happens to TTFPP? What happens to the community based learning. We may think of making them autonomous for political gains but we can't just let this be happening.

Hmmm . I'm not totally in support of this autonomy neither am I totally in support of it being multi campus. It's good we are a multi campus university but why are some campus cheated by the central administration. Why are they being bias instead of treating all campuses fairly. Wa campus has been neglected by the central administration. Every good thing goes to tamale or other campus yet wa campus has the most population. Wouldn't it be better to be autonomous?
Notwithstanding this, I also share the concern of the writer. Yes ! The president wants to score a political point. Why can they leave it as a multi campus and then give each campus the opportunity to run its administration. To me , I think that is the best.

Mr. President, if you want to establish a university start from the scratch and leave UDS alone. Someone founded UDS and you can do same to earn your political points. #LEAVE_UDS_ALONE

The locations of the four campus compliments the uniqueness of teaching and learning. Dismembering these campuses does not only disfigure the university but further deteriorate the already disfigured education system in the Country.
