Dwarfs to sue Sarpong

The Board Secretary of Cape Coast Ebusua Dwarfs, John Frederick Mensah, has revealed that the management of the club intends to sue former coach J. E. Sarpong for defamation.

The trainer accused the club's Director of Operations, John Ansah, of pocketing monies meant to bribe referees to favour Ebusua Dwarfs in the Ghana Premier League.

Sarpong alleged that the refusal to pay the bribes had resulted in the dwindling fortunes of the club.

Sarpong was relieved of his post in May after match day 11 where his side slipped to the foot of the table following a 3-0 defeat to Asante Kotoko.

Responding to the allegations in an exclusive interview with Class Sports' Desmond Decker, Mr Mensah indicated that: "Even though he apologised to set the records straight, we will ask our solicitors to take it up. He cannot substantiate what he [Sarpong] is saying. What sort of thing is this?" he questioned.

"It has no basis. People think that you should always be giving bribes to referees. When we play at Cape Coast, and we are robbed then, the supporters think that Mr Ansah has been given money to be given to the referees, and his refusal has led to bias by the referees.”
