Juliet Ibrahim to get investors for women’s football

Ghanaian actress Juliet Ibrahim has wondered why Ghanaian women in football cannot be pushed and supported to excel in their career despite their massive talent.

As a result, Ms Ibrahim, who was recently appointed a FIFA ambassador to support the inclusion of women in leadership positions at FIFA, said she would also use her role to get investors to support women’s football in Ghana.

Speaking to Class Sports’ Hussein Hassan during a kidney awareness walk organised by the Juliet Ibrahim Foundation to raise awareness on kidney cancer on Thursday March 10, Ms Ibrahim said she would push women’s agenda with her voice.

“Within the year, I’m going to be meeting with the Ghana women’s football [teams] and we’re going to have projects and plans and see what we can do to push them…and most importantly, we need to start getting investors to really look at women’s football because they are great.

“They are great at what they do. They are winning awards all over the world, so, why can’t we push our very own Ghanaians,” she wondered.

“My role is mostly for now to promote the FIFA women’s football confederation. So that’s what I’m doing now, so, I use my voice and status to promote women in football …to push women to have more voice and stand in football.

Juliet Ibrahim co-hosted the CAF Awards in January 2016 where she dazzled the audience and spectators with her fluency in both English and French.
