GOGSPA swears new executive members into office

The Ghana Oil and Gas Service Providers Association (GOGSPA) has inducted into its executive council six individuals to steer its affairs.

The members will have the responsibility of ensuring the growth and progress of the association Vis-a -Vis the overall interest of players of the oil and gas industry.

The new executive members include Dr. Douglas Zormelo of Zormelo & Associates- President, Capt. Francis Boakye of Flat C Marine Offshore- Vice President, Lawyer Elikplim Agbemava of Fidelity Law Group, Mrs. Doris Ababio of Uptouch Consult Limited, Mr. Justice Bonney of M & L Trinity Company and Mr. Emmanuel Quartey of PQ Oil & Gas Services, all members respectively.

At a short ceremony in the capital, Executive Director of GOGSPA, Nuertey Adzeman was optimistic membership of the association will continue to grow as expected.

He expressed worry over the financial status of the association and urged members to take the activities of the GOGSPA serious and ensure they pay their dues promptly to keep the secretariat running.

'We must endeavor to take the association serious. We should not wait for problems to come, then we start running to the Secretariat for assistance. This is our association and we must make things work," he said.

Adzeman told News Ghana later in an interview its members were now doing better by way of expertise as compared to when it came into existence some seven years ago.

He urged members of the association to reposition themselves to take up businesses in the oil and gas sector by building their capacities.

"It is important as members, we build our capacities in the industry so we take up jobs reserved for the indigenes," he said.
The GOGSPA Executive Director commended the Petroleum Commission (PC) for ensuring that local companies that have the expertise in performing certain tasks in the oil and gas industry were not denied the opportunity.

GOGSPA is an association of indigenous companies providing various services in the country's fledging oil and gas industry.

The association currently has a membership of 93 oil and gas companies with 34 non-active members.

It is advocating for indigenous companies to have a say in the industry operations. It is represented on the Local Content Committee of the PC where it is making great inputs and contributing to major decisions.

The association is also on the Steering Committee (SC) of the Enterprise Development Centre (EDC). Enditem.
