If the aim of Dr. Bawumia was to provide a critic of the NDC's and President Mahama's rule so far, then he did a decent job of it. On a political platform, the populism of Dr. Bawumia was "sweet to swallow". No one hearing Dr. Bawumia, without looking beyond the populism and playing to the gallery, would award him high marks.

Sadly though, after diagnosing what was wrong with Mahama's handling of the economy so far and detailing the "havoc" that this administration has caused the economy and the nation at large, the disappointment for me as well, was the lack of policy alternatives. No impartial observer could fail to notice the lack of such. So the political job by Dr. Bawumia was very well done. As a "government in waiting", Dr. Bawumia's "brilliant" presentation did not give me any idea as to what his government would do about all the enumerated problems.

Just as the NDC should not think the problems in the NPP would hand them the elections in 2016, NPP should not think but stating the obvious as what Ghanaians are going through under this NDC government would result in electoral success for them in 2016.

Opposition parties are to provide alternatives, and that in my opinion, Dr. Bawumia failed to do. There is still time for him to makes amends.

Some of us are still waiting.

Nkrumah sowed the seeds of violence in our politics and used it to eliminate his political opponents because he was a communist dictator. He was already a comrade and communist disciple before he arrived from Landon. And as we all know, communists don't have a place for opposition in their system and they don't share power too. Nkrumah, therefore, used the multiparty system to ascend to power and managed to demolish it step by step to prevent others from getting there dictatorially.

Our recent political history would explain what I have just said. When Rawlings usurped power from Liman and lunched his Cuban-style Communist Dictatorship, there were always attempted coups and rumours of coups until he reinstated multiparty system and some semblance of democracy in the country. I n a multiparty democracy, the opposition and all stakeholders wait patiently for their turn to take power democratically. That is, if it is believed and confirmed that the incumbent is not using his position cunningly and unjustifiably to prevent them from coming to power, or ever coming to power democratically.

Therefore, democracy and the rule of law are the only guarantors of peace and preventers of political violence and not PDA.

Unfortunately, the incompetent undemocratic NDC party was given another mandate in 2009 with new oil revenue to try again, but the result so far has been HIPIC, Domsor, low production, unprecedented corruption, currency depreciation, over-taxation, unprecedented hardship and hunger with another "Rawlings' chain".

NDC should therefore be shown the door come 2016 with a promise not to ever come back again.

'There was near pandemonium and confusion at the Annual Global African Investment Forum held in Westminster, Central London after a heated exchange between Ghana’s President John Mahama and former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo degenerated into open insults.

This was due to General Obasanjo openly accusing the Ghanaian president and his government of blackmailing and collecting bribes from Nigerian businessmen in Ghana, buying numerous properties in Nigeria and South Africa and financially contributing 12 million dollars to Goodluck Jonathan’s campaign last year.

This infuriated President Mahama who lost his temper and pointing his finger , called General Obasanjo an ” idiot” and a “stupid buffoon”.

It took other ministers present as well as Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni to calm tempers and usher President Mahama to a nearby room'
This is how our presidency has been reduced to. So couldn't Pres Mahama have denied the accusations by Obasanjo with hard facts without resorting to insults? What did he say about Mugabe's recent comments about his behaviour as an African leader? His conduct falls below statesmanship manners, regardless of the provocation in a public forum.
