Mayor of Wichita Kansas calls on KMA mayor

The Mayor of the City of Wichita Kansas in the United States of America, Carl Brewer has pledged the city’s committed to forging concrete ties in the areas of business, education among others with the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly.
The move is aimed at fostering mutual international relationship between the government of Ghana and that of the United States.
Mayor Brewer said this when he led a powerful business delegation to call on the KMA mayor, Hon. Kojo Bonsu in Kumasi yesterday.
The visit was intended to also cultivate international business opportunities with local businesses in the city of Kumasi.
He said representatives from both Wichita State and Friends University who were part of the delegation used the occasion to look forward to developing collaboration for recruitment and study abroad.
“The city of Wichita on the backs of the visit will also be looking to strengthen possible governmental ties that may provide opportunities for a twinning relationship with Ghana”. Mayor Brewer said.
He hoped that the visit will help enhance business and educational relationship between Wichita and Kumasi as the two cities seek to collaborate in that regard.
The visit also considered cultural and humanitarian efforts by the two cities.
The Mayor of KMA, Hon Kojo Bonsu, expressed the city’s sincere gratitude for the visit, describing it as a sister-sister, brother-brother relationship.
He hoped the relationship will blossom to mutually benefit of the two cities.
The Mayor called on the city of Wichita to support the city in the area of education by providing avenues for scholarships for students in the city.
He hopes for exchange programmes and seminars between the cities.
The two mayors held bilateral talks behind closed doors.
The delegation was later taken on a tour of the city. Areas visited include, the Kumasi Central Market, the Okomfo Anokye sword and the rattary club, currently under construction by the KMA.
