The Kuffuor led Maladroit government promised the world of a new Ghana cedi will gain value when pegged with the dollar, what we have now is not what was promised.Nothing was put in place by this illiterate Bawumia and his Kookoase economic gurus to sustain the parity of the cedi with other major currency.
When you do monetization, it means you have deliberately pegged your currency to the major ones with the hope that it's value will cope or improve.
Having this, we expected the BOP to improve through prudent economic policies but Bawumia's Dagati economic policies coupled with that of Koookoase bush meat economics only saw more importation of rice from india when Ghana could have invested in agriculture to produce own rice. And so, Bawumia should not think Ghanaians are illiterate as he is.
At this stage of our economic development, the only way is to borrow but invest the borrowing wisely into productive activities such as what the current government is doing.
That said, Bawumia should stop his Dagati economics as these days even the Kookoase opposition npp MP's are well awake.
"When you do monetization, it means you have deliberately pegged your currency to the major ones"
Illiterate fool, do you know the difference between 'monetization' and redenomination?. Kuffour did redomination and not monetization.
Other major currencies NOT currency
Ghanaians are illiterate? --Ghanaians are illiterates.
borrow but invest the borrowing wisely? Hahaha, the word borrowing is a verb, you cannot invest borrowing.

You are rather quick to respond to any Akan or Ashanti who responds to the bogoted statements against them.
I find Andy K as a hardened Anlo bigot. He seems to believe the Anlo Ewes are even better than other Ewes and as an Ewe who is not Anlo, I find him as a disgusted human being.
If you are really anti bigot crusader, so far you have portrayed yourself of even hating your own tribe and that I can't wrap my brains around it.

Dear Brother,
How are you? Thanks for the question.
First, I do not use the word "tribe" or any of its derivatives to refer to any human being. I personally think they should better be reserved for animals or uncivilized, neither of which Africans are.
Second, I do not think our Brother Andy K is ethnocentric. I have personally not read or seen and remarks where he directly said one group of human beings are better than or superior to other groups. I know he has repeatedly jestingly said Ghanaians are "uncivilized."
Third, I think our good, decent, and extremely intelligent Brother Andy K is trying to undo stereotypical myths made against our Ewe brothers and sisters by those he calls "These Akans. Any well-meaning person will do exactly that. I fully support him in that direction. Brother Andy K simply wants us all to live as good neighbors, sisters ad brothers.
Fifth, I had many friends of diverse elasticities when I was a student at KNUST. I did not understand why some of my Asante friends always insulted or made blanket derogatory remarks about Gas, Ewes, Bonos, etc., without provocation. There were also occassional squabbles betwwen Asantes and Bonos on my university hall floor which I did not understand until relatively recently.
Sixth, I have five other siblings. We all speak fluently (except for our youngest brother who came to America when he was seven or so). At home when the family was gathered we spoke Asante-Twi with our Asante father and Fanti-Twi with our Fanti mother and, strangely, in the same conversational setting we turn to each other and spoke Ga and then turn to our mother in Fanti-Twi and our father Asante-Twi.
Our mother understand and speaks Ga fluently, but our father is not. Moreover, we lives all our lives in Teshie (Teshie Military and Training School (MATS), Teshie Manguase).
Seven, the sixth point is important because it sets up another context for me. I myself had been insulted and derogatory remarks had been leveled against some of my KNUST Asante friends who thought I was Ga until they later realized I was Asante/Fanti.
Eighth, I used to live in a Bronx building with one of my brothers and we had some elderly Asante neigbors. And they always my brother and I speak Ga and, like I said before, these Asante neighbors of ours mistook our Ga fluency for Ga ethnicity.
Yet we heard them rain insults on us as Gas for no apparent reason. These are questions I am still trying hard to understand. In fact, these Asante neighbors did not have greed cards (and hardly worked) and they had a Ga friend who occassionally visited them and bought them food and drinks. He sometimes even gave them money to add to their rent. Initially these Asante neigbors of ours hardly said anything negative about this generous man until they became convinced that my and I were Akans (Asante/Fanti) until I made one of them speak with my father.
Ninth, as soon as they realized that our father was Asante and our mother Fanti they began destroying this generous man to us.They even privately accused their Ga friend to us, my brother and I, of not saving his money and using his own money to buy alcohol, etc, the same alcohol he shared with them when he paid them a visit.
Tenth, on weekends these Asante elderly neighbors of ours had a group of elderly Asante men and women who visisted them. Most of their conversations came with insults and derogatory remarks about Ewes, Gas, etc. My brother and I did not understand them so we refused to join their company when they gathered outside on the weekend.
Eleventh, don't get me wrong. I am not saying all Asantes are like that. I have good Asante friends. Remember I am also part Asante. That aside, I also had an Asante friend in the Bronx who worked with a private Ghanaian shipping company.
I have forgotten where this friend of mine and his boss came from (but I do recall they came from the same town as Eric Agyemang, the famous guitarist and highlife).I went to work with on off-days and most of his customers were Asantes, mostly from his hometown. I became friends with many of them and whenever our conversations centered on politics, etc., these Asantes talked about Ewes, Gas, and others as if they were not human beings. One Asante even had the nerve to tell me that Ghana was not doing well because Asantes were not ruling the country. And when I asked why he ignorantly replied that Asantes were the most intelligent of Ghanaiasn.
Again, like I said before, I have been insulted, laughed, and derogatory remarks made by Asantes who mistook me for a Ga because of my Ga proficiency. What is wrong if I Ga, Ewe, Gonja, Mamprusi, Dagomba, etc? Are they not human beings? Why would anyone insult me or looked down upon me because he perceived me as Ga? Why?
In fact, I have raised this issue on many occassions with one of my good KNUST Asante classmate who is here in the states. I will not say everything here but he does undertsand my anger against "Asantes" for their false sense of ethnic superiority.
The final question is, if some Asantes will do this to me, their fellow Asante, what can't they do to Mamprusi, Gomjas, Gas, Ewes, etc. This is not to say Asantes are the only one guilty of this "crime" of superiority complex. But I have not experienced this from our Ga, Gonja, Dagomba, Ewe, etc., brothers and sisters. The insults and dehumanization had always come from our Asante brothers and sisters.
This is why I think Brother Andy K's running series on the same moral and phylosophical questions I have been grappling with all my life will help! Let us all support him with open-mindedned.
Thanks to you all. All errors are mine. I never had time to proofread it.
Remember ethnicity is not an issue for me. Forget ethnocetrism! I love you all!
Thanks.

At least you admitted you hate Asantes. Dear Adam,
I have clearly stated a disclaimer telling readers this is merely political satire.
I did a tribute to our great Prof. Kofi Awonoor and got some serious trashing. Some readers called me trokosi and all kinds of bad names.
Some Ghanaweb readers said Rawlings shuld have left Afrifa, Amedume, Feli, Yaw Boakye, etc., and shot me instead.
I did another essay to let readers understand that human geogaraphy made obsessions with ethnicity scientifically unnecessary. I received another trashing.
When you write about science, technology, and mathematics without even mentioning race/ethnicity or political parties some Ghanaweb readers will still twist them and somehow bring ethnicity and partisan politics into them.
I have written about GMO (and EPA) and some Ghanaweb readers insulted me because I suggested our leaders need to take these issues seriously.
I once used music to discuss corruption in Ghana and some Ghanaweb readers insulted me for writing rubbish.
I wrote about the likelihood of religion destroying our "democracy" and I got some serious verbal trashing.
I began a series in which I profiled some of the creative work Ghanaian scholars based here in America are doing for the world. Again, I got some thrashing.
Yet another good Ghanaian professor, based in Southern Africa saw something positive in the series and snt me some names to profile for Ghanaian youth.
I wrote about educational reform where we introduce critical thinking, science, mathematics, technology, critical reading, and "multiple intelligences) and still some people said referencing scholarly works did not demonstrate critical thinking on my part.
I wrote about Afrocentricity and showed how that should help Africans protect their strategic interests and how we should use our mineral wealth to benefit Africans rather than foreigners. Some readers gave insults.
There is one Ghanaweb reader here on this forum (he has been following me closely) who uses different Ewe-sounding monikers to insult me.
This guy gives readers the wrong impression that some of our Ewe brothers and sisters who read my artcles are the ones insulting me. I suggested to him that I have his IP and know he's a Ghanaweb columnist.
He's an Asante and most readers know him as a bigot. He is always attacking our Ewe brothers and sisters. Unfortunately, he sees a political satire and goes haywire.
Yesterday he was on the forum for Part 1 using different monikers. I got his IP and tried to neutralize his insults with jokes. And yet this is a writer who is always supporting the bigotry of other Ghanaweb columnists. Does this not surprise you?
I also wrote and used references to alow readers to go further than what I discuss. Some readers still complained.
Now I stopped quoting and have since adopted political satire to express my ideas. And some readers are still complaining.
Who pays us to write? That is, are we paid to write at all? No. And I know readers are aware of the intense thinking that goes into these writings.
If some readers will still go ahead and twist anything I write to suit their idiosyncrasis, so be it.
We were each raised differently, attended different schools, have different education backgrounds and reading levels, as well as different expectations when we read something and, therefore, I don't expect my writings to satisfy every reader. Neither do I expect every single commentor to demonstrate a clear understanding of what I write.
Should I have to go about soliciting readers' expectations before putting pen to paper?
That is one feature I have come to associate with some Ghanaweb readers. No matter what you write some readers will not doubt twist them. That I don't care.
You write poetry, they complain. You write prose, they complain. You put a few Ewe, Twi, Ga sayings in an article, some readers still complain.
Some complain when you do book reviews. You use "big" words and some readers see it as boastfulnness. You use everyday words and some say you write like a child and even call you "illiterate."
Do these readers pay us to write?
Adam, please let such readers allow me to have my piece of mind. I have sent in another installment touching on other dimensions of ethnocentrism and ethnic chauvinism/nationalis.
Raders can do whatever they like with it or refuse to read. In fact, those readers should stop attacking and maligning Gas, Ewes, Gonjas, Dagombas, etc., without provocation.
Again, unfortunately, it is these same readers who always attack, insult, malign Gas, Ewes, etc., who have problems with such write-ups. I have a friend who gives e their IPs! Justice Sarpong is the interesting one. He's all over the place. I have all their IPs!
You see these readers praising Kwame Okoampa-Ahoofe, Akadu Mansema, Justice Sarpong, and Adofo Rockson.
All errors are mine.
Thanks.

Hello Antoa,
Do some of you read critically at all? I still wonder.
I have referred to Kwame Nkrumah, my greatest hero of all time, as The Scarab Beetle, another animal, and here you are still complaining.
Did you not read where I said The Scarab Beetle ate "dung" (Part 1)?
Have you read a novel such as George Orwell's "Animal Farm"? Have you read any of the Synoptic Gospels where Christ used figures of speech, allegory, etc., to spread his message?
Have you read the Koran or Hadith to see Prophet Muhammad do the same thing? And several of our African writers?
Moreover, I even referred to those of our brothers and sisters living in the North as Dinosaurs, Mammmoths, Horses, Elephants, etc., in Part 1, and here you are still complaining.
I chose to conflate human and animal essences to enrich this serial satire. If you cannot read critically and push your understanding beyond animal characters, then, reader, you mght as well reserve your comments.
For instance, when I say "the grinding teeth of history," my friend, do you think "history" has teeth as humans? No. It is merely figurative.
Have you listened to the rap song "Self-Destruction"? Let me assure you that I did mention that song for a sicial and political purpose. You should listen to the lyrics. The song embodies the political crisis Ghana is facing now. This one example should alert you to the fact that the characters have deeper sociopolitical meanings than your facile comments suggest!
My frend I don't go to bed thinking about any group of people. Writing is a hobby and always try to explore different writing styles. That is all. I do not hate any ethnic group. Please understand that.
How else do I have to write to spread my message?
Geez!

When the ordinary Asante is thinking hard about his business you spend time writing this thrash. An idle trokosi hand indeed. You are lucky your slave name has given you an identity and I wish you could write sth better that could help your trokosi brethren to be industrious as the Asantes to keep them in your poor region to stop them from trooping to the farms of the people whose history and pride you are denigrate. I am a typical Bono man and I sometimes wonder how you people live your lives in Eweland. Go to my home town Nkoransa to see the plight of your people spending their hard earned income and precious times drinking ogogro. Your writings now tell me the reason you people envy hard working people Akans esp Asantes. Your language, culture, food, dressing, music is alien to Ghanaians so continue to live with your trokosi culture and inferiority complex. You inward looking tribalist should write sth that will motivate your people weeding in the farms of Akans to learn the ways of their masters - to save and invest but not to spend their hard earned incomes on ogogro.

Most of what Brother Kwateng has put here is already out there. And yet we are trying so hard to make him Ewe from Volta region? Lets hope, Otumfuo will not turn into Ewe one day for saying the truth. I from the extreme part of Northern Ghana went through seven years of secondary education in Kumasi. I hope you will understand my plight. I have lived in Accra, Takoradi, Enchi, Navrongo, Sandema,Denu, Swedru and I have never seen derogation at that level. I just hope my brothers will realize that, when every body is complaining, it is because you need to take an introspection. Other regions have similar problems but yours is national. Take it or leave, it is the truth. My question is, why wont people say Brother Kwateng is Nzema, Brossa or Fante but Ewe? Because you a still having the same mind set. Does it mean it is only Ewes who speak the truth?

I have covered Ghana very well except Volta region where I am limited to Aflao and its environs. I also lived at Atebubu (Bono with Komkoma) dealing with Amanteng, Prang, Beposu, Abase, Kwame Danso (Dwan) and Yeji (Chumburru). I had a one year stint at Nkoranza as well. I have virtually covered Bono and Ahafo areas to Goaso, Mim, Akodie, Kukuom,Bekyem and Techimantia. I have lived at Kumawu briefly, Bekwai covering Fomena areas. Obuasi covering Akrokyere to Dunkwa. I Covered Nzema, Ahanta and Wassa from Tdi too. We are same to the core. I know what am saying. It is pervasive but not as national as we have with Kumasi. Why do you think Bono is so Massive; Dormaa to Berekum, to Badu, through Wenkyi, cutting off the Moo areas back to Techiman, Nkoranza to Atebubu but is dying out? I am still waiting for someone to say I am Nzema because I a militant supporter of Kwame Nkrumah/Nkrumahism.
The question is, what is wrong if I am Ga, Dagomba, Gonja, Ewe?
Brother, interestingly, I have also been called a Ga at many different places! I was happy when others saw me as Ga, though.
I am happy when others say I am Ewe. I am happy when I am called a Mamprsi, Dagomba, or Gonja!
Are they not our brothers and sisters?
Someone is even suggesting I write about the entrepreneurial abilities of the Asante as if Ewes, Gonjas, Gas, Fantes, Kwahus, Mamprusis, Nzemas, etc., are not entrepreneurial.
You see how far the typical Asante will go to prove his exceptionalism when that is a social mirage. Who says the Asante is the only one with entrepreneurial skills in the body politic? Let's shun this nonsense and advocate national unity!
Finally, Brother, as always, I know a reader is going to come here and say Brother is the same person as Francis Kwarteng. And that Francis Kwarteng enjoys self-adulation. Some readers say I use different monikers to heap praises on myself. As if I am Narcissus.
Brother, you used an interesting word "introspection," which is what we should all be doing!
In fact, we even need national introspection on this matter of ethnic chauvinism!
Thanks for your creative contributions.

There is nothing wrong at all if you are Ga, Nzema, Gonja, Dagomba or whatever but be bold and proud of who you are and not to pretend to be what you are not.
Asantes are hated because people think they are too boisterious and loud and I can understand that because we are not afraid to tell you who we are and don't care to speak our language either which riles the people.
I have read somewhere here where people say you have said to be from Aduman, a town I have been to more than twenty times because I am from Buoho, the same Kwabre people like Aduman people but you couldn't tell where Aduman is which is not more than six miles from Buoho.
If you remember, in one of your articles, I also accused you of being an Ewe who have taken an Akan name because you wrote a two or three part article where you accused Afrifa of master minding the 1966 coup you might not have studied expeditiously. You intentionally left Kotoka, Harlley and Deku who planned that coup and Afrifa was only brought in because the coup would not have been breached without him knowing it since he was Kotoka's adjugtant who was also married to an Ewe woman rumoured to be related to Kotoka or from the same Kotoka's hometown.
You have done a lot of things with your articles that a true Asante will not do. Don't get me wrong, I know some Asantes who also don't agree with a lot of what some Asantes do and as an Asante, I sometimes don't agree with what some of us do either but yours borders on extreme hate of Asantes and nobody will ever hate his or her ethnic people.
As a matter of fact, you are more bigoted than some of the extremist Ewe writers in this forum.
Dr SAS, a very intelligent man whose intelligence borders on the genius strastosphere also love Ewes and speak very highly of them but nobody accuses him of being an Ewe so you might have to measure your words with decorum.

Brother,
That's a good one to Sarpong. He couldn't believe that an Asante can write such things cos he is still encrusted in the mental warpedness of the pre-colonial times when his predatory ancestors raided and plundered others for the slave forts and castles along the coast. And he is still mightily proud of those exploits of his "great" ancestors, of course. Francis, on the other hand, has transcended those times and developed a world conscience based on the one-ness of human kind, of the African in particular as a distinct group in solidarity, and must be in solidarity with each.
Sarpong should wait until he reads how I put meat to Francis' by telling about how my own Anlos and some other Ewes used to help Akwamus, Gas and Asantes to raid even other Ewes for loot and slaves! Did that before. It doesn't mean I hate my people the Anlos of today, nor my ancestors who played dominant roles in that old order except that I take a distance from that heritage and takes no pride in it. It doesn't make me a bigot against them, so I fail to understand how Francis' writing makes him one, even though he is a bonafide Asante. Or Akan.

Dear Sarpong,
I refuse to continue to address Justice Sarpong's remarks if he does not sufficiently explain to me what this statement of his means:
"You have done a lot of things with your articles that a TRUE ASANTE will not do."
Who is "true Asante"? What does the word "true" in "true Asante" mean?
I ask another reader yesterday, are there scientific tests like paternity/maternity tests to determine one's ethnicity?
This question does not mean we should not come together as one people to do for ourselves what Asians, Europeans, etc., are doing for themselves as a group. Andy K has made that eloquently clear, I am more African than Asante, Ga, Ewe, or Zulu! Add Brother's excellent advice to Andy K's!
That said, I will proceed further if Sarpong tells me what that statement of his means!
Justice Sarpong, if you have any idea the kind of TERRIBLE experiences I have had with other Ghanaians, mostly Asantes, who had mistaken me for a Ga, you will not be addresssing me this way.
These esays speak to that "anger."
Anyway, I don't take umbrage at being seen as Ga, Ewe, Dagomba, Mamprusi, Gonja, Nzema, etc. I am happy because then I am being identified with my Ghanaian-ness (Africanness), not with any particular ethnic group.
As usual, I love my Dagomba, Ga, Gonja, Ewe, Yoruba, Igbo, etc., brothers and sisters.
Mind you, Sarpong, Dr. SAS is like a brother to me. I love him as I love Brother, Andy K, Kwesi Atta Sakyi, G.B. Berko, Kojo T, Daniel K. Pryce, Dr. Michael Bokor, and several others. Their ethnicities do not atter to me.
Andy K treats me like a blood brother, so is Dr. SAS, Daniel K. Pryce, Brother, and Dr. Michael Bokor!
I see everyone here as a brother or a sister! Maybe one when I meet you Justice Sarpong in person I will tell you more about! For now, let's deal with the substantive issues, my brother Sarpong.
All errors are mine!
Thanks.

Please allow me to rephrase my question:
Could it be possible that Sarpong is implying I am not a "true Asante" because my mother is a Fante?
Maybe he would not have used those two words if both of my parents had been "true Asantes."
Finally, I have said several times that I use General Akwasi Afrifa as "epitome of evil."
I have also told readers I am taking full advantages of literary freedoms offered to writers (literary/poetic license) to develop characters any way I deem fit.
I even suggested writers could as well use Angel Gabriel as "epitome of evil," something Salman Rushdie chose to do in "The Satanic Verses." Elsewhere I have also used Busia and Danquah to demonstrate what is bad about African (Ghanaian) politics!
Simply, I use Afrifa to show what is bad about African, particularly, Ghanaian politics! As simple as that! Others havd replaced Afrifa with Kwame Nkrumah and I have not complained.
Thanks

Now let me explain why I called you not a true Asante.
You said these articles are satires and I actually did not read them so I don't know but your comments to others and my previous encounter with you where you showed spastic hatred towards Asantes is the reason why I called you not an Asante because I cannot see how an Asante like you who profess Air Marshall Yaw Boakye to be your uncle who did not even build a decent house at Aduman and was murdered because Rawlings blamed him for his constant failings of his promotional examination. How can an Asante hate his own like you are doing is the reason why I called you not a true Asante. Thank you.

Do you think there are not Ghanaweb readers who sat with me in class (KNUST) and knew BOTH SIDES of my family very well? I dare any of them to come here and say otherwise to the entire world! Do you think I will come to a public forum like Ghanaweb to make up stories?
This is my final statement to you about Aduman. LET ME CAPITALIZE IT TO MAKE IT CLEAR:
GO TO ADUMAN AND ASK FOR KOFI GYEBI, THE KING AND MY FIRST COUSIN.
TELL HIM WHAT I HAVE BEEN SAYING TO THE WHOLE WORLD ABOUT ADUMAN, MY FATHER, AND YAW BOAKYE ON GHANAWEB.
THEN COME BACK HERE ON GHANAWEB AND TELL THE WHOLE WORLD WHAT HE TELLS YOU. LET ME KNOW BEFOREYOU GET THERE AND I WILL GIVE YOU MY PHONE SO YOU, KOFI GYEBI, AND I WILL TALK. WE CAN EVEN SKYPE TOGETHER.
I CAN EVEN SEND YOU MY FAMILY PICTURES (INCLUDING MY FATHER'S) AND YOU CAN TAKE THEM TO HIM.
LATER WHEN YOU HAVE ADDITIONAL TIME ON YOUR HAND I CAN SEND YOU TO MY MOTHER'S FAMILY SO THAT YOU CAN TALK TO THEM.
LISTEN, JUSTICE SARPONG, I AM NOT ONE OF THOSE ASANTES WHO GO ABOUT BRAGGING AND MAKING UP STORIES. I HAVE GIVEN YOU ALL THE INFORMATION YOU NEED TO START YOUR INVESTIGATION. COME BACK HERE TO SHARE YOUR FINDINGS WITH THE WHOLE WORLD.
IF YOU NEED MY PICTURES TO SHOW KOFI GYEBI LET ME KNOW. AND PLEASE STOP THE NONSENSICAL SPECULATIONS. I DO NOT BOAST OR ENJOY MAKING UP STORIES.
LET ME SAY THSI TO THE ENTIRE WORLD: AGREE TO PAY MY PLANE FARE AND OTHER EXPENSES IN GHANA AND I SHALL GO TO ADUMAN WITH YOU. WE CAN ALSO PROCEED TO MY MOTHER'S FAMILY.
IF YOU FAIL TO DO THESE, PLEASE DON'T CONTINUE WITH YOUR UNFOUNDED SPECULATIONS.
THE WHITE-AMERICA WRITER TIM WISE, AUTHOR OF "BETWEEN BARACK AND A HARD PLACE: RACISM AND WHITE DENIAL IN THE AGE OF OBAMA," HAS COME UNDER SIMILAR BY WHITES WHO ALSO CLAIM HEIS NOT WHITE BECAUSE HE'S ALWASY SAYING THE TRUTH ON BEHALF OF AMERICAN MINORIES, PARTICULARLY, AFRICAN-AMERICANS.
I THROW THE CHALLENGE. GO TO ADUMAN AND STOP THE CHILDISH WHINING!
ANYWAY I HAVE NOTHING TO PROVE TO YOU. JUST PAY MY FARE AND LET'S GO. GET A CAMERAMAN WHO WILL COVER THE ENTIRE TRIP TO BOTH SIDES OF MY FAMILY.
I AM EVER READY! AND DON'T FORGET TO DEAL WITH THE SUBSTANTIVE ISSUES. I HAVE DONE MY PART. THE REST IS YOURS. PROVE MY FAMILY WRONG!

You can't even tell me something as simple as how to get to Aduman from Afrancho.
What is Canaan to Aduman citizens.
A little background about Aduman secondary school. What building in that school is famous and why.
These are simple things you can do without your pictures, phone numbers and all these yada yada ramblings. If Yaw Boakye was your uncle, what is his mother's name.
You getting angry and shouting will not stop me for asking you to answer these simple questions.
Answer them and then I will accept that you are from Aduman. I can also name some chiefs names from Techiman, Atebubu, Berekum and others frominformation I got from friends from these areas and that does not make me a citizen from these towns.
Answer those easy questions and I will leave you alone because I know you are not from Aduman.

Commendation:
Again, when appreciated from a literary perspective, the reader finds the writer’s imagery superlative! His style is captivating because of its poetic prose-like structure. This is a ludicrously sobering political and social satire that bites real hard into the flesh, into the psyche; it makes one wonder, want to reject what you think the writer is saying…might be saying… can’t be SAYING ? But then the humor interspersed with a variety of cultures hits right in the gut and you double over…off the chair!
Kwarteng, you too paa!
Recommendation:
Even as historical truths must be told, even as we would forever remain victims were we to follow the moral principal behind the proverb: “turn the other cheek,” yet as an intellectual savant and a new-age warrior, the manner you choose to fight Ghana’s battles must yield success, not aggravate an already volatile environment. Recent write-ups on Ghanaweb by certain columnists, commenters, including the President’s unfortunate remarks in Kumasi have deepened existing ethnic tensions in all regions – even in the Diaspora.
You are touching a subject area that requires extraordinary sensitivity towards those whose actions are being critically examined/questioned. The fact that there is a regular set of members from the same ethnic group you stem, who choose to unwisely, deliberately, and continually abuse others of an opposing set, does not excuse you from treating your response to them with a kindly attitude. Hence, I besiege you, for I do indeed admire your literary talent, speak truth with fortitude in your write-ups but please do so also with kindness!
From comments made, few readers know about satire. It was wasted on them. Yet the message was your objective! Is a new approach then not in order? We must move beyond this stage of hostilities.
I bless you, My Brother, I bless Asantes, Fantes, Ewes, Gas, Dagombas, Gonjas, Hausas etc… I bless you, Ghana!

I had been captivated by the courage of Mr. Kwarteng in confronting known bigots on this Medium but now I find his shifting of targets to attack the Ashanti Empire and its legacy incongruous with that initial trajectory.
I believe all Empires, however big or small, came into existence with the typical mechanism of trampling on the freedoms of others to create both the physical premise of that political entity and the coalescence of humanity that became its Citizenry or subjects.
The process of Empire formation was no humane exercise any modern enlightened individual would readily welcome.
But we ought to understand that the most prevalent motive behind the processes was self-preservation. The History of Humans on this Earth has always been one dominated by our mutual distrust, fear and shared zeal to protect our kind, mostly at the expense of all others. The relief we enjoy today has not been the norm for long. In fact, the Civil Rights Movement associated with Martin Luther King Jr. became necessary because the puritanical, moralistic route for equality among all People had stagnated on selective qualifiers. Even as Democracy had been given pronounced publicity in the USA Constitution, for example, Discrimination against other Races, especially Blacks, was institutionally practiced there. South Africa was clamped under Apartheid.
It has not been merciful, morally upright, nor democratically respectful of the rights of fellow humans. We are therefore obliged to contextualize the behavior of the Empires and evaluate them according to the general moral standards and beliefs of their days and not whip their current members just for hailing from them.
Any lingering relics of inhumane, unsociable characteristics of residual Empires that exist today must be deplored but with the understanding that most things about us and in our Cultures take time to change. We must therefore be lenient to ourselves for any shortfalls we notice among ourselves with the lenses of modern Social and political values and expectations.
We should not just think that the fact that some now-unacceptable attitudes still exist among People of old Imperial vicinities those People are necessarily morally bankrupt.
If we would like to brag about our relative enlightenment today, we need to accept that our regard for all others must conform to the Same tenets of enlightenment we are claiming. The question of why People still indulge in bigotry is one that Anthropologists and Sociologists have adequately answered but we would need a special forum to discuss it meaningfully and effectively as it relates to us.
I do not think it is fair to single out any particular Ethnic group, in this case Ashantis, to chastise for any remnants of Imperialistic fervor without giving full exposure to the factors causing them to hold on to that fervor. It is easier said than done to expect that any superiority complexes would just fizzle out from among any such Group that took the brunt of change as the Ashanti Empire went through. It takes level-headed assessment of the factors at play, including the behavior of other Ethnic Groups towards the Old Empires, in this case, again, Ashanti. We can discern similar condescending behavior among other Groups towards Ashantis, too.
We must admit that any effusion of superiority complex by some Ashantis today could be in part due to certain suspicious behaviors by some folks in the other Groups. So, even as we denounce that condescending attitude among us, we ought to confront it intelligently enough to avoid deepening the rift that we fear it could be causing among us.
We should not get ourselves caught up in the vicious cycle of some revenge of the Nerds combat. The writings we put out for public consumption on the state of our Politics and Social and Economic well-being must seek to promote our mutual cohabitation and conviviality, instead of driving the wedges among us deeper.
Long Live Ghana!!!
