Skills and Technology fair takes off tomorrow

The skills and technology fair is set to take off tomorrow at the International Trade Fair Center, La in Accra at the pavilion B.

The two day event which is being organized by the Council for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (COTVET) under the Ministry of Education and it is being sponsored by Danida and the World Bank will bring together participants from small, medium and larger scale businesses, research institutions, science and technology institutions, development partners and the media.

It is expected that the skills and technology fair which is being held under the auspices of the Skills Development Fund (SDF), a competitive challenge fund addressing the skills and technology needs of business enterprises operating in both the formal and the informal sectors of the economy of Ghana will provide a platform for to share the outcomes of its support to the private sector and promote dialogue between research and technology developers and industry as part of its strategy.

According to the outline of the two day event which will start tomorrow the 3rd of December and end on the 4th of December 2013, the fair will hold special informational sessions on how to apply to SDF for funding under the 4th Call for proposals which is currently running till 20th December, 2013 (informal sector)and January 20th,2014(formal sector).

It must be emphasized that the skills development fund has since 2011 approved about GHC 39 million worth of grants to 193 Ghanaian firms in support of innovate skills and technology development initiatives in the private sector and promote dialogue between research and technology developers and industry.

The special guest for this historic event is the Honorable Minister of Education, Prof. Jane Naana OPoku Agyemang.
