Imperial Express wins Best Regional Transporter of the Year

The National Road Safety Commission (NRSC) has adjudged the Great Imperial Express Transport Services Limited, a subsidiary of Kantanka Group of Companies the Best Regional Transporter of the Year for their role in ensuring safety on the country’s roads.

The Company was declared winner on Thursday in Accra during the 4th National Road Safety Awards organised by the NRSC to award transport operators, who excelled in 2013.

Speaking to GhanaWeb in an interview Kwadwo Safo Jnr. C.O.O & Executive Director of the company who doubles as both Commercial and Chattered Pilot stated that his company has chalk many successes over the years including the Best National Transporter of the Year Award for both 2011 and 2012.

According to the renowned Ghanaian Pilot, who heads over nine companies under the Kantanka Group of Companies, since the establishment of Imperial Express safety, reliability, comfort and experienced drivers have been the hallmark of the company.

“We use very strong Marcopolo busses build on Scania chassis, this makes us hardly experience break-downs on the road, so when it comes to durability and safety we are in the lead, every bus moves with two experienced drivers and if one feels he is a bit tired he is not suppose to drive, he changes quickly over to the other, this is to help avoid road accident”, he said.

Mr. Safo Jnr, disclosed that as part of his plans to improve and expand the company’s fleet, negotiations are already underway with a Brazilian firm to procure over 50 brand new modern Marcopolo buses for different services to conquer the Southern market and the entire west African countries in the near future.

“Kantanka Assembling Plant here in Ghana will start full operation with the target of producing over forty commercial cars every month starting from next year,” he mentioned.

He however hinted that under the Kantanka Technical and Vocational Programme, the company is yet to inaugurate one of the biggest state of the art workshops in Accra to help train thousands of unemployed youth in trade such as carpentry, electronics, automobile and host of others as part of efforts to minimize unemployment rate in the country.
