Alan 'Boys' Chase Jake Out

- Edward Boateng to unseat him

By A A Yayra

As the Akufo-Addo faction in the New Patriotic Party stockpile enough ‘arsenals’ to battle their case at the Supreme Court, credible reports reaching The Al-Hajj indicate that, leading members of the Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen set are feverishly oiling their political guns to ‘shoot down’ national executives perceived to be political pets of the defeated presidential candidate, particularly the chairman of the party, Jake Otanka Obetsebi Lamptey.

Information gathered by The Al-Hajj reveals how a group within the party, purportedly championing the 2016 presidential ambition of Mr. Alan Kyerematen, have been clandestinely preparing the grounds to get favorite candidate of the former Trade, Industry and PSI Minister in the erstwhile Kufuor government to the take over the chairmanship position of the elephant party in their next election to elect national executives. Not hiding their ill-feeling towards the leadership style of Mr. Obetsebi Lamptey, the Alan group, spearheaded by Member of Parliament for Aburi, O B Amoah together with minority leader and MP for Suame, Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu and some notable bigwigs of the party have penned Mr. Edward Boateng, the Executive Chairman and Group CEO of Global Media Alliance as a replacement for Obetsebi Lamptey

Mr. Boateng, a leading member of the NPP and a financier of Alan Kyerematen’s 2007 and 2010 campaign bid for the flag-bearer-ship position for the party; Al-Hajj’s intelligence have it that the anti-Akufo-Addo group is currently being prepared to snatch the chairmanship position from the current holder or any other person who intends to contest for that position when the party opens nomination.

“Nana Akufo-Addo may have succeeded brain washing supporters of our party to vote for his surrogates such as Jake Obetsebi Lamptey, Anthony Karbo, Mocta Bamba and others at the last election, but this time round, it won’t happen. We will take over the party from them…they have hijack the NPP and have run it down and it is time to clean up the mess they have created with people of integrity and credibility; failure of which our party will be doomed forever” a source close to the Alan faction noted

The source disclosed that the next election of the party to elect executives to run affairs will be hugely and keenly contested by loyalists of the former Trade and Industry Minister “right from the polling stations to the national level.”

This move, The Al-Hajj gathered is to soften the grounds for their darling, Alan Kyerematen to get his grips easily but firmly laid on the leadership slot of the party for 2016.

“We know the kind of opposition Alan is likely to face and the best way to make things easier is to get an accomplish entrepreneur like Mr Boateng to become the chairman of the party, whiles some of us also contest for the other positions,” the source explained

The source noted that, Jake Obetsetsebi Lamptey together with the current leadership have made the NPP so unattractive to floating voters, hence the need to get rid of them to “usher in new tactical brains to rub shoulders with the National Democratic Congress at all levels”

The source refuted allegations that the Alan faction worked against Nana Akufo-Addo in his quest to become president, adding “Akufo-Addo paraded a lot of foul mouth and loose talkers on the political platform, thinking that could win him votes…he had Free SHS as the only solution to the myriad of problems facing the Ghanaian electorate and that certainly backfired…we did not ask Akufo-Addo to say all-die-be-die or yen Akan fuo, so no one can blame us for his lost”

The source maintained that the Chairman of the party should equally be blamed for the party’s woes, as he failed to call the presidential candidate and some leading members of the party to order when they made disparaging remarks about other people from different tribes.

“We are sitting on the fence, watching how they fight their case in court, Jake cannot use that as a face saving image to deceive supporters of our party in voting him as the chairman of our party again, and we will crush him if he attempts to do that. For now, we have a credible person to lead our party, in the person of Mr. Boateng” the source added

Interestingly, this same Alan Kyerematen group led by O B Amoah succeeded in scheming to get Hon Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu to retain his position as minority leader whiles another Alan’s right hand man and former Attorney General, Hon Joe Ghartey was elevated to the Second Deputy Speaker of parliament. This current development in the NPP, especially when the party is in court challenging results of the 2012 election is said to have re-ignited bitter resentments amongst loyalist of the two party giants in the elephant fraternity. Already, derogatory messages are being sent to persons perceived to be Alan loyalists attacking them for remaining nonchalant on the party’s ongoing court case.
