NPP Suit: Prez Mahama instructs lawyers to file a response

An Accra based radio station, Citi FM, is reporting that President John Mahama has instructed his lawyers to file a response to the Supreme Court within the week.

The response, according to the report, is in connection with the New Patriotic Party (NPP) suit brought against him and the Electoral Commission (EC) disputing the electoral figures.

Sources within the top echelon of the presidency say the petition has officially been served on the Chief of Staff, Henry Martey Newman, the report adds.

The NPP last Friday filed a suit at the Registry of the Supreme Court contesting the results of the December Presidential and Parliamentary elections.

The three named plaintiffs in the suit are Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Presidential candidate of the NPP in the 2012 elections, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, running mate of the NPP presidential candidate and Jake Obetsebi Lamptey, Chairman of the NPP.
