NDC is making Ghana an unsafe country - NPP

The New Patriotic Party (NPP), has accused the ruling NDC of camping and training some Ivorian Nationals as part of a scheme to link them to the NPP flagbearer.

Speaking on Citi FM’s news analysis program, Eyewitness News the General Secretary of the NPP, Mr. Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie said: “We have sent our word round, let the Police go and investigate and Ghanaians will indeed know nobody is even safe in our own country; we have our intelligence and let them[Police] prove us wrong.”

The NPP in an earlier statement raised the alarm that government was using the Police to disrupt the NPP’s efforts at assembling evidence for their impending court case in which they look to challenge the results from the December 7 elections.

Below is the full statement signed by the NPP national chairman on the issue

Our intelligence has scooped yet again another diabolical plan being hatched by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to create disaffection for the New Patriotic Party and our leader, Nana Akufo-Addo.

This time, they intend to camp Ivorian Nationals at a house in Adenta with the expectation that a police raid of the said building will have these nationals implicate Nana Akufo-Addo as the one who brought them in to come and foment trouble in Ghana.

The NPP has not brought in anybody to come and create problems in Ghana and will never do so.

We believe in the rule of law and Nana Akufo-Addo has said publicly that the party will use appropriate legal means to address our concerns with the results of the December 7 poll.

In responds to the NPP’s allegations a member of the NDC’s communication team, Felix Kwakye Ofosu said “the NPP leadership lacks credibility. Nothing they say can be taken serious. They lack credibility and therefore they are peddling falsehood on this matter as well. The NDC has not met the police in any meeting to foment any sought of trouble as far as the maintenance of the security of this country is concerned.”

“Indeed, it is the NPP that has engaged in acts that undermine the security of this country. They have attacked journalist, they have beaten up innocent members of society they have told a lot of lies to well meaning members of our society. I don’t think that you as a media house should be tolerating that sort of falsehood.”
